1949 Lincoln Cosmopolitan 4 Door Sedan I am offering for sale at $1.00 OPENING BID/NO RESERVE my rare 1949 Lincoln Cosmopolitan Sedan. The Lincoln "Cosmos" were the "Top of the Line" Lincolns for 1949! I am hopeful that this unique car can find a good home - lead sled? street rod? restore? Much work has been done to put this Lincoln back on the road; much work remains. Too many projects and family health issues necessitate this sale! PLEASE read this description carefully as this Lincoln has many STRONG and WEAK points!!! After a tune up and some repairs,I have recently driven this Lincoln on short highway trips of 10 to 15 miles at highway speeds with no issues. I have NOT driven the car on any long distance trips! STRONG POINTS 1. Strong Running original flathead V8 engine (337) - no leaks and no smoke! 2. Brakes work fine 3. Clutch works fine 4. Solid, West Coast car only recently brought east 5. Original interior is still presentable and usable. 6. Working headlights and taillights 7. Clear Pennsylvania title 8. No rust holes or BONDO; minor surface rust only on undercarriage 9. Original 6 volt electrical system works well (I do use an 8 volt battery for better starting) 10. Nice rear fender skirts 11. Nice assortment of extra parts go with the car 12. Rebuilt Starter 13. Recent tune-up 14. Good Tires 15. No noticeable exhaust leaks WEAK POINTS 1. Hydraulic power window units need rebuilding 2. Windshield has a small V-shaped crack and a stone chip (replacement windshields are available) 3. Some flat window glass needs replacement - the worse window is the passenger side rear door (see photo) 4. No turn signals 5. Brakes lights were repaired but are "finicky." 6. Original black paint looks fine from a distance but is weak and needy in many places 7. Noticeable pitting on most chrome, especially the trunk lid. 8. Vacuum wiper motor needs rebuilding 9. Previous owner had run the car on a 12 volt battery - dash lights are burned out 10. Temperature gauge not working 11. Heater/Defroster motor is not working The Lincoln is located in Shenandoah, PA (Eastern Pennsylvania), not far from I-81, I-80, and I-78.
