This car is fantastic!! I'm selling “Dweezil the Diesel” because my family and I are leaving the country for an epic eighteen month trip around the world. I would keep him in the family if I knew for sure that we would be coming back to the USA to live. I have loved driving this car everyday since he joined our family; his is handsome, smooth, debonair, jaw-droppingly reliable, absolutely rust free, comfortable and economical. I can get about 500 miles to ONE TANK OF GAS As Dweezil is a Diesel Turbo Injection model he has great acceleration to get you out of those sticky situations, and he makes for a perfect commuter car - easy to park and easy to drive, with plenty of room for the family – I drive him everyday to work and he is great company to hang out with (plus his Monsoon sound system is FANTASTIC!!) He will sell fast as his type are very hard to find. Similar models are on Kelly Blue book for around $11,000. The reserve on this is much lower We recently replaced: The rear brakes and rotors The front brakes and rotors Water pump Thermostat with gasket Timing Belt (no need to worry about that for another 100k miles) Rollers Front Strut Assembly Had all the belts & hoses checked He now runs like a dream plus he has all the “bells and whistles”: · Automatic transmission plus Tiptronic - a conventional automatic gearbox with torque converter that has a manual override mode allowing the driver to select the gears, rather than drive in fully automatic mode. · One touch power windows all round · Rare ESP option (Electronic Stability Control) · Automatic power door locks · Genuine VW Roof Rack – we added one for our Skybox · Monsoon stereo with in car CD player PLUS a 6 CD changer, cassette and radio · Powered Sunroof · Alloy wheels · Cruise control · Air conditioning – blows very cold –brrrrrr! · Power heated mirrors and washer nozzles · Heated seats – didn’t think I would ever use them but they are GREAT! · Original Floor Mats, Books, Manuals, two electronic entry keys and one manual valet key I also have a GREAT set of R15 winter tires for this car which I will happily part with for an extra $100 Now the bad news (which isn’t actually too bad as NONE of these issues affect his performance in any way): This car has a few minor door dings (see photo) and some minor light body scratches – he is five years old after all! The left hand rear shelf support string broke (see photo) but the rear shelf still works perfectly The right hand rear light cover needs replacing (see photo) but the light functions perfectly When we took him in for his brakes to be fixed they went and lost one of the VW inserts to the wheel hub (see photo). These are easy to order online or from any VW dealer. My son accidently stepped on the rear seat cup holder and broke it (see photo). This part can be easily replaced; we just haven’t got around to it. And now the really important stuff: Terms & Conditions - This is a USED CAR and is being sold AS-IS. There is no warranty of any kind, either expressed or implied. I will not be responsible for any repairs or replacements to the vehicle once it has been sold. - I have tried to describe the vehicle as accurately as I can and to the best of my descriptive ability and mechanical knowledge but I AM NOT A MECHANIC so if you need to get it inspected then this must happen before the bid closes. Once the bidding has closed and the car has been won, he is yours to love and enjoy, so once again I suggest that ANY INSPECTIONS NEED TO BE COMPLETED BEFORE YOU WIN IT - This car is owned solely by me and the safety inspection is valid in NEW YORK STATE until Feb 2012 - Your bid is binding. The remainder of the balance must be paid in cash and is due FIVE DAYS after the bid has been won as we are in a “time crunch” with leaving the country for our trip. Alternatively you can of course pay in full right there and then using PAYPAL. Just a word of warning about this…if you pay in full via Paypal then the car will be ready for collection once the funds have cleared and been transferred to our bank account. You may feel safer picking it up yourself and paying in cash. I hope that you understand our situation but we can’t risk leaving the country to find that the funds didn’t go through AND that we lost our car ****HOWEVER**** THE CAR MUST BE COLLECTED AND PAID FOR BY JUNE 27th. The remainder of the balance MUST BE PAID IN CASH- once again; as we are leaving the country we may not have time for any other payment method to clear. No other method of payment will be accepted including credit cards, personal checks or bankers drafts (there have been a lot of scams involving fake bankers drafts) and once again, no Paypal other than the deposit UNLESS THE ENTIRE AMOUNT IS PAID FOR ON BID COMPLETION AND THE CAR IS COLLECTED ONCE THE FUNDS HAVE BEEN SUCCESFULLY TRANSFERRED FROM PAYPAL TO OUR BANK ACCOUNT Shipping - The buyer is responsible for shipping from my house to your location, including all logistics. I also realised that I did not include a picture of a scratch that occurred a few winters ago when someone (who will remain nameless) scraped the ice off my roof using a metal scraper (DUH!!).I am unable to add any pictures of the underside of this car as I don't have access to a garage that has a mechanics pit however, as far as I know there is NO RUST UNDERNEATH!!
