Vehicle Detail

Offered for the first time on E-Bay, with NO RESERVE, is my 1979 Porsche 911 SC Targa, Porsche Red over Black leather. This was a Pennsylvania car I purchased from the original owner and drove to Michigan in 2006. At the time of purchase, the car had 73000 original miles. I drove the car sparingly, approximately 2000 miles per year over the next 5 years. Sadly, the odometer stopped working last summer at 83499. This is a common Porsche/ VDO issue and an easy repair. According to the original owner, the car was professionally resprayed the original color back in 2000. Except for some very minor clear coat loss on the hood, the paint has held up exceptionally well and presently needs no paint or body work. One thing that drew me to this vehicle initially was its rust free, unmolested condition. The car was never in any accidents, is very straight, was never driven in bad weather and was always garaged. There is still no rust anywhere that I can find. The undercarriage is immaculate, the original floors solid and dry. Please study the pictures as I have tried to show everything both positive and negative. Mechanically, the car is great. The engine is very strong with good compression and oil pressure. The transmission shifts well with no synchro issues and the clutch is very strong and aggressive. Brakes were redone by the original owner and work well. The Carrera chain tensioners have been updated to the more desirable and reliable hydraulic units and a pop off valve has been installed. There is a slight oil leak that seems to be coming from one or two return tube oil seals. Once again, a common issue, easily repaired. There is also a pop/pop/pop exhaust leak that has recently developed that is most evident at idle. The leather on the seats has started to fail as seen in the pictures. The dash is straight and not sun damaged. The windshield cracked and the rear view mirror fell off in storage last winter. I have no idea what happened. The hood shocks have failed and the Targa top vinyl stitched seams are failing. The gauges all function well except the odometer which I have mentioned previously. There is factory AC. All the components are installed but honestly, I have never tried to run the AC. The body mounts, torsion bars, and tension tube are all rust free and in great condition. Porsche people know these can be problematic, and almost impossible to repair. This is a great car for 911 entry level or seasoned ownership. All the expensive repair basics are solid and RUST FREE. 1979 was one of the best years for this model. Do your homework. The danger and outrageous expense of owning any 33 year old car is RUST, not seat covers or cracked windshields. I welcome international bidders. Shipping is at the expense of the buyer, although I can assist in the arrangement of transport. I require a non refundable deposit of $1000 within 48 hours of auction end, via Paypal, with balance due within one week of auction close. All funds must clear my bank before the car can leave my property. Remember, this is a NO RESERVE auction. If you seek a 911 that is affordable, can be driven right now, is complete and RUST FREE, and needs some TLC, this may be the car for you. Thanks
