Toyota’s newest full-size sport utility vehicle evolved from the Tundra pickup truck and is built at the same Indiana plant. At 204 inches long, it’s about the size of the Ford Expedition and is considerably longer than Toyota’s own Land Cruiser. This particular vehicle is the upgraded SR5 version, which includes keyless entry and front fog lamps. Powered by a 4.7-liter V-8 engine, it is married to an automatic transmission. Toyota has five SUVs in its lineup, and the Sequoia is the largest. Exterior The Sequoia rides a 118.1-inch wheelbase and measures nearly 204 inches long overall — 5 inches longer than the Chevrolet Tahoe and a foot longer than the Land Cruiser. The full-size SUV has four side doors and a rear liftgate, and the horizontal-bar grille and front styling that is similar to those on the Tundra. This particular model has a power sunroof as well. Interior The Sequoia seats eight occupants with two front buckets and two three-place bench seats in the back. Toyota claims that interior dimensions match the Ford Expedition’s and exceed the Chevrolet Tahoe’s. A contemporary dashboard and control layout adds to its unique modern look. The interior is made out of rich and supple leather that has been very well maintained. This particular vehicle comes equipped with a TV/DVD and also has premium sound with a six-CD changer and AM/FM radio. Under the Hood The Sequoia’s powertrain is borrowed from the Tundra. A 4.7-liter V-8 engine produces 240 horsepower and teams with a four-speed-automatic transmission. Safety Antilock brakes are standard. The car also includes curtain-type airbags, daytime running lights and Vehicle Stability Control — Toyota’s electronic stability system. All eight seating positions have three-point seat belts. Driving Impressions Only a glance is needed to see that the Sequoia is really big. Despite abundant dimensions, the Sequoia does not feel as immense as some rivals once you’ve managed to get inside. In fact, it drives beautifully and yields an excellent highway ride. You can’t even feel the bumps; the suspension absorbs the brunt of the imperfections on the road. The Sequoia takes curves beautifully. Vigorous V-8 acceleration is matched by an easy-action automatic transmission with a column gearshift. The engine is quiet, and no other sounds are bothersome. Occupants have plenty of room all around, as well as abundant storage possibilities. This particular vehicle is in great shape. Just look at the pictures and judge for yourself. The vehicle is mechanically sound and the interior looks nice and smells great. This car has NOT been smoked in. The engine sounds great, it handles and drives superbly and has no problem developing high speeds. Car runs straight as an arrow and tires do not pull in any direction.
