Vehicle Detail

If you know anything about classic Mustangs you know that short of finding a Shelby, this is as good as it gets. Not only is this car a factory built K-code, but it is also a true GT, and about as optioned out a Mustang as you could get in 1965. Its 4 speed manual transmisson, 8K rally pack, pony interior, day/night mirror, 2 speed wipers/washer, full console, GT wheels, front disc brakes, woodgrained steering wheel, fold down rear seat, and rear pass-through complete the dream set of options. If you want the true 60’s muscle car experience, this is it! This is not a car you want for your teenage son or daughter to drive. It’s pretty and it’s fast, but like all of its muscle car contemporaries, it doesn’t have much in the way of safety features or creature comforts. K-codes were not availble from the factory with power steering, power brakes, air conditioning or any of the safety features found on the cars of today. Ford's idea at the time was to put all the engine power to the rear wheels. I have restored this car as close as I could to the way it left the Dearborn, Michigan production facility 46 years ago. I have changed the color from the original Ivy Green to Silver Blue (which is also an original color for that model year) and put steel belted radials on it, but other than that, it is equipped pretty much as it left the factory. This car has not been clipped or cloned. The engine is not the original engine, but is a correct engine for the car. Transmission and 9 inch rear end is original to this car. I had the engine rebuilt with hardened valves, original cam specs, solid lifters, and bored .0030 over by Jasper Performance Engine Rebuilders. The carb is the correct Autolite 4100, with a manual choke and was rebuilt to "show quality" by Pony Carburetors. The fan, motor mounts, dual point / centrifugal advance distributor, and harmonic balancer are correct. This car was not a trailer queen for most of its life. If you look at the One True Media link, you will see that it was pretty rough when I purchased it. I did have to replace the floor pans and radiator support, however the torque boxes and plenum were fine. Much of the sheet metal and many of the front suspension parts had to be replaced. I have put many hours into the restoration and the search for the correct parts to restore with. I tried to use original, NOS, or MCA approved parts whenever I could. When I couldn't, I used the best quality aftermarket parts that I could find, mostly from NPD or KAR. I'm sure if you are a concours MCA judge you could find some minor faults with the job I have done restoring it, but this car looks great, even close up. I am not aware of any mechanical deficiencies or defered maintenance issues. Prior to purchasing this car I did a title search on the car and have traced its history through seven legitimate owners back to 1966 when it first came into Tennessee. I have free and clear title to this car and it is not a salvage title. I’ve had a lot of fun with this car and I’m sure I probably won’t get the dollars out of it that I’ve invested. I am selling it to make room in my shop for other projects. Hopefully, I can find someone who will take over its care and enjoy it and preserve it. I will include all receipts, historical records, reference books & materials I have accumulated. The car cover is also included. This car is available to be viewed by appointment in Springville, TN (see One True Media link for contact info). I have a reasonable reserve on this car and will not disclose what it is prior to the close of this auction. Because of the age of this vehicle, there is no warranty once it is sold. See picture show of vehicle at: http://www.onetruemedia.com/otm_site/view_shared?p=c47369fd37a286e76e182a&skin_id=1011&large I am relisting this vehicle with a lowered reserve. I have $42k in receipts for this car! I know I won't get what I've got in it, but I can't just give it away!
