Vehicle Detail
Up for sale is my 1991 Mercedes 300TE 4MATIC. This is a very versatile and capable vehicle and includes features such as 7 passenger seating, a 180hp inline six, Mercedes proprietary all wheel drive system, etc. There is a huge list of standard features on these cars and this one is very well equipped. This vehicle is in excellent shape, goes down the road smoothly and quickly and stops well. The 4Matic system works great and propels the vehicle along on icy terrain without missing a beat. These 300 series cars are some of the most durable passenger vehicles ever constructed and this one is still a low mileage example at 131 k. The good- Everything works- all the various switches and controls of the interior work well. This includes windows, sunroof, door locks, wipers, climate control- though the air is not cold, needs a recharge- electrically telescoping steering wheel etc. The interior seating show no signs of wear, the seats are intact, clean and supportive. Headliner and door panels are in nice shape. Car drives smoothly and quietly, handles and stops well. All the fluids look clean and healthy. Records are included for frequent oil changes and other servicing done by specialized Mercedes mechanics. This was a $58,000 state of the art vehicle when it was new and has been well cared for and maintained since then. The interior is comfortable and has well thought out ergonomics. the compression has been checked and is all to spec and even across all cylindersnew correctly rated battery, new distributor cap and rotor The not so good- These issues are shown in the pictures -small dent on front passengers wheel well, about the length of a quarter -clear coat is peeling in various areas around car (paint underneath looks good, respray clear?) -small rust bubbles by the logos on rear of car (this is the only rust I found on the car) -varnish has cracked and chipped by window switches inside -drivers seat control is missing the little headrest toggle (but the knob works fine) -front lower air dam has hole -missing back seat door ashtrays, floor mats, rear seat floor carpet and third row seat bottom cushion issues not shown front drivers tire is balding slightly on the outside rear tires are ok, goodyears idle is lumpy and can stall if stopped at light if left in drive, maybe a temperature sensor or leaking fuel pressure regulator (fairly minor I'm told) some minor coffee type stains on front passenger carpet- haven't tried to clean them. The spare tire is full sized and looks brand new and could be used to replace the front one at inspection time (current sticker is good to July here in Maine). I wouldnt hesitate to drive home on the ones installed however. All 7 seatbelts are intact and operational. I have not owned the car long, though I have driven it thoroughly and at different speeds and through different conditions and have tested and described everything to the best of my knowledge and ability. There is probably a minor detail that I have missed so please ask any and all questions before bidding. I believe in honesty and openness both in principal and from the practical standpoint of keeping a good reputation. I will help you with arranging shipping or picking you up from the airport or bus station or what have you if you choose to drive the car home yourself. This is a bill of sale transaction. In Maine we don't use titles on cars 15 years or older. Thanks for looking- enjoy. -Adam PLEASE NOTE: I believe the odometer to be accurate and that the carfax report is incorrect. I have maintenance records showing a normal accumulation of mileage over time. It has not and can not "exceed the mechanical limits" a term used for older 5 digits odometers that wont record over 99,999 miles. This is a modern 6 digit odometer, original to the car, that reads 131,581. the pix with the snow in them are from about two months ago. no changes to car since then. thanks!
