Vehicle Detail

1969 BMW R69US model. BMW manufactured 11,317 R69S models between 1960-1969 with roughly 1,000 US models between 68-69. This one sports its ORIGINAL gradada red special ordered paint that the previous owner claimed less than 50 made. The bike has 18,963 original miles and is in stunning survivor condition. Has matching #'s frame and engine. It has denfield seats and hella bar end turn signals. It has aftermarket slip on mufflers for sound, but originals are included as well. It has the original tool kit as well. My dad and I have owned the bike for around 3 years and haven't put more than a few hundred miles on it. It was purchased from a classic bmw collector that also owned a bmw dealership in Lubbock, Tx. Prior to our purchase he had gone through mechanicals and freshened anything that needed it. Slingers were cleaned and bike was made ready for unleaded fuel. All work was performed by a certified bmw tech. The bike starts, runs, stops, rides, and handles wonderfully. It does have typical minor chips and such that one would expect from 42 years of use without restoration, I tried to get close pics so you can see, but they are so minor it's hard to. It is far above average and shows absolutely amazing. This is an extremely rare and desirable motorcycle that you will not be disappointed in and will be proud to own. Needs nothing but an excited owner. Any question please ask. Thanks in advance for your interest. I will aid in shipping in any way possible. Seller reserves right to end auction at any time because bike is for sale locally. On Jun-03-11 at 13:12:11 PDT, seller added the following information: I have had an unreal interest in this motorcycle. Wanted to clarify a few things. I have had a ton of offers, but am going to let the auction run. I know it says will ship worldwide, but I am not interested in doing myself or taking the bike anywhere to disassemble to ship overseas. If you are overseas and have someone to do this, that is great, but I would prefer you have them bid and you can pay them. I will aid in helping any way I can, but disassembling the bike or co-ordinating an overseas money transfer with it going somewhere else is not something I am comfortable with. Thank you to everyone for their questions and interest. On Jun-03-11 at 15:01:04 PDT, seller added the following information: I received this email this morning from an expert, thought i'd share the information. I spoke with him on the phone at length and he's positive this bike is the real deal. He also said Butler&Smith imported 200 colored bikes for '69. 140 Dover White, 20 Turf Green, 20 Carib Blue, and 20 Granada Red. Number for '68 were similar and he said he knows of a dozen or less real granada red bikes for both years. This is about a rare of bike as you will find, and in amazing condition. Dear fwinn, Beautiful bike, and very nicely kept. I have documented these original colored 1968-1969 BMW bikes for a number of years, and this is one I have not seen or heard about. Butler&Smith stated 20 Granada Red bikes were shipped to the U.S. for the '69 model year, there were also some for '68. Also available was Turf Green, Carib Blue, and of course Dover White, the numbers for the Green and Blue were reported to be the same as the Granada Red. I have an original Granada Red that is two serial numbers off yours, and a Turf Green that is four numbers away. Good luck with your sale, you've got a good one there. If you have any other photos or documentation for this bike I would appreciate it, so it could be added to my continued documentation and research, thanks, Norm - zbimmer0hsp
