Vehicle Detail

1968 Chevy Longhorn C 20 ¾ ton pickup 1 of 1902 I own a car restoration shop specializing in Toyota Land Cruiser FJ40’s, I looked for years to find this factory Longhorn pickup to restore. I’m too busy to take it on, so here it is for sale. This is an easy restoration project, this truck is straight and mostly rust free compared to most 67-72 trucks. 1968-71 were the only years the Longhorn was produced, 68 being the first and most desirable year. There was only 1902 produced. I bought this truck from the original owner’s family, there is 65k original miles on it. This truck came with some nice factory options, it’s original, has not been hacked all up like most. This truck has lived it’s entire life in the high desert of eastern Washington. This truck is rare, if you want a easy unique project without spending a ton of money this truck is for you. The truck runs and drives great right now. I’m selling this as a no reserve auction. If you want to know more about the Longhorn, copy and paste the link below in your browser, some good info on this site. http://www.longhorntrucks.freeservers.com/ Also copy and paste this link 85 pics of this truck http://s953.photobucket.com/albums/ae11/fj40man79/1968%20Chevy%20Longhorn%20PU/ VIN # CE248Z165419 Factory Options as on the sticker inside the glove box. L30 327, 4 speed manual, CST (Custom Sport Truck) package, power steering, brake booster, cab lights, manual throttle and a few more as seen in the pic. This truck has a factory locking rear differential, not sure on the gear ratio but all the research points to 4.56. Body This truck is original paint red/white (most desirable color combo). There have been a few paint touch ups, but the paint and body has no bondo in it, what you see is what you get, no surprises. Most of these trucks were beat into the ground, this is the nicest un-restored Longhorn I’ve seen or heard of. The pictures show how clean it is, a couple very small spots of rust, no panel replacements, just some small cutting out and new small pieces of sheet metal. The frame is excellent, the original wood in the bed needs replaced, the rails look good. All original sheet metal, no signs of any accidents. Usually by 2011, 67-72 trucks have been rebuilt several times, this one is a virgin, exactly what you want to start out with. Mechanical The motor was rebuilt several years ago, but has little miles on it. It starts right up and runs great, no smoke or knocks. The transmission is tight, the rear end is great. Overall, this truck is not mechanically wore out anywhere, only 65k miles. The original carburetor has been rebuilt, really nice to see most all the original parts are still there. This truck being so original and rare, money wise it’s best to keep it original, but I have a 1972 Chevy 2WD ¾ ton parts truck. That truck has factory disc brakes, tilt wheel, some other nice upgrades not available in 68. I will sell that whole parts truck minus the motor with a title for $800. If you can’t take the whole truck, email for parts quote, I can pull them and box them up in the back of the 68, labor charges will apply. I went round and round with WA state to retain the original 1968 title, long story short they would not let me keep it with the new title, so I just transferred it today, I will get the title in physical form back from the state in 4-6 weeks. I have the paperwork I can scan and send to you proving I own it. I will send you the title right after I get it. I’m open to 3rd party inspection during the auction, don’t call Auto Appraisals & Pre-Buy Inspections when looking in the phone book, I own that business. I encourage anyone to come at this truck during the auction. There are 85 pictures on the photo bucket link, but after being in the vintage auto and restoration business for years, I’ve learned everyone’s expectations are different. I will set up shipping, you just pay them directly. Prices are $600-1300 right now depending on location and shipping lanes. I require a $1000 deposit via paypal within 24 hours closed auction (no exceptions). The rest cash in person, personal or cashiers check in the mail. I will deliver the 68 Longhorn within 300 miles of Benton City WA at $1.75 a loaded mile. Remember diesel is $4.50 a gallon. Vehicle and fuel must be paid for before this truck leaves my property. Cheyenne super SWB LWB classic antique 4x4 1967 1968 1969 1970 1971 1972 Custom long horn On Jun-02-11 at 17:06:50 PDT, seller added the following information:I'll try to answer some of the questions I've been getting in the open. NADA and other collector car "blue books" do not have a listing for the Longhorn truck. The regular 3/4 C20 of this year goes from $6500 low to $28000 high. That value is for the generic thousands built truck. Thanks for the offers, but I intend to let the auction go. Not looking for trades, but will listen. A 1988 Chevy Corsica and a case of beer is not an equal trade, save yourself the time. Unique vehicles like this generate more attention than the typical 100k show car, most have never heard of a 68 Longhorn. On Jun-07-11 at 09:55:30 PDT, seller added the following information:Answers to more questions. This truck will sell to the highest bidder. If you have a no feedback account, please email me with your phone #, need to speak over the phone before last second bids. Winning on eBay means you bought it, not a chance to come look at it. Deposit of $1000 like said in the add is firm within 24 hours closed auction through paypal. The truck has the factory eaton rear end. Had emails with suggestions it's 456 or 488. It is low geared, but the best revving GM motor of all time the 327 is installed, still runs down the highway fine. The parts truck I have is a 72 3/4 ton 2WD camper special automatic. I'm keeping the motor, but will sell all the other parts. Disc brakes, tilt wheel, Corporate 14 bolt rear 411 geared. Parts offered first to the winner of the 68 first, then the rest of it for sale to anyone. THanksOn Jun-10-11 at 12:13:53 PDT, seller added the following information:No, I'm not going to pull this no reserve auction at the last second, it gets what it gets, Bid to win! Please be serious about this purchase, it's takes a lot of time to do these auctions. Thanks.
