Vehicle Detail
Here is a "Last of the Airheads" BMW R100RT with low miles and in PERFECT condition. Okay, they actually imported some R100RTs in 1995, but they're the identical bike. I've owned a few of these great bikes over the years, but this one is the nicest one I have ever had. When it's gone, (which it will be, and soon) I will probably regret having sold it. I currently also have a 2010 R1200RT in my garage, but I keep coming back to these airhead Boxers because of their looks, their sound, their simplicity, and their value. Last model R100RTs, like this one, are clearly classic bikes, but with modern updates such as monoshock rear suspension, disc brakes, and mag wheels. Please take a close look at the photos. The bike really does look this good when you are close up and personal. It is a deep charcoal black with a hint of metal flake and hand-appilied white pinstriping. This is THE classic color for this classic bike, although the charcoal and gray two-tone model is nice too. The finish, the chrome, the cast aluminum engine assembly, mag wheels, and the saddle are very hard to tell from brand new. Two guys have owned this bike before me, and they both kept it in great condition, as I have. The bike has recently had a complete "BMW Service" at our local BMW dealer (Hap's Cycles, Sarasota, FL). This included valves, all fluids changed, carb synching, etc. I have the receipts ($$$). You will need to do nothing to this bike for a looong time except enjoy riding it. The battery is six months since new and the Dunlop tires have about 4,000 miles on them. It comes with a new Parabellum windscreen system. An 18-1/2 inch windshield is installed (I am 6'1"). but I also have the 16 inch windscreen if you prefer to "look over." The bike has BMW saddlebags and the very handy tail grunk for around town errands. Heated grips are standard, of course, and please note that the alternator on this bike puts out a consistent 13.1V (indicated). Some R-bikes of this vintage seem to have weak alternators, but not this one. The 6-speed transmission "clicks" smoothly up and down with no hang-ups. It also has new, highly polished Staintune mufflers with virtually the same profile as the Beemer original. They also produce the same distinctive Boxer sound, but with a deeper resonance. You Could load up the saddlebags, get on this bike tomorrow, and ride from Florida to Seattle if that was your objective. Or, you can keep it in your garage for occasional long distance touring, many years into the future. If you maintain this bike in its current condition, depreciation will be close to zero, something to keep in mind these days. Included is the original Riders Manual and a complete BMW tool pouch. EVERYTHING works perfectly including the stock horn which will wake up the most inattentive 4-wheel driver. The bodywork is totally without cracks or blemishes. Well, okay, there is a small scratch under the the lower fairing, ridht side, but you have to literally lie down under the bike with a flashlight to see it. If when you see the bike, however, you believe I have misrepresented it in any way, I will immediately refund your deposit. Finally, one of the photos shows my Garmin Nuvi GPS mounted on the left handlebar. This goes with the bike, but only at the Buy-It-Now price. This Beemer is priced at the upper end of what near-new, low mileage and virtually timeless Boxers have been going for recently. On the other hand, there aren't many of these out there these days. Please consder the value in owning a classic BMW motorcycle both in dollar terms and just the enjoyment derived from owning and riding one. You will know what I mean when you start answering questions from other bikers (and 4-wheelers too) about your classic ride. I can assist with shipping and maybe even delivery, but the bike must be paid for before it leaves my garage. Take a look at my eBay record too. Any questions, my phone number is 941-416-0931. Thanks for looking and good luck bidding. Fred-H
