Vehicle Detail
I am selling my 1965 Fastback. It is a numbers matching fastback that went through a thorough restoration in 2008. It features new sheet metal with the exception of the original hood and roof. The car has been lowered 1 1/2 inches and boasts 15" Crager torque thrust rims surrounded by B.F. Goodrich radial T/A's. The suspension has all been replaced with new components. The power steering system has all been rebuilt. The fastback has original drum brakes that has every component changed including a dual master cylinder for saftey and silicone brake fluid to keep the system from getting any moisture during the winter. The 65 still has the original 289 that has been gone through and was bored .30 over with new pistons and performance upgrades but still nice and tame to drive ( my wife sometimes drives it). The C/4 transmission was gone through as well and new clutches seals and gaskets were replaced. The u-joints were changed as well as the bearings and seals in the rear end assembly. I also installed a new gas tank, steel lines from the tank to the engine bay which is nicely detailed as well. The interior was replaced with TMI brand components and Scott Drake trim pieces and window regulators. The fastback boasts a classic air system A/C / heat which replaces the old system under the dashboard which makes a cleaner , more modern install. I installed a AM/FM/ Ipod stereo system which is designed to fit in the original dash opening with speakers in the lower kick panel and 2 more in the center dash location. I installed a heavy duty all aluminum rad with a puller electric fan to keep the engine cool. I have showed the fastback once only back in 2009, due to my week-end work schedule in the summer, and it won " best in class" in Frankenmuth Michigan all Mustang show sponsered by the Mid Michigan Mustang club. The car is painted 1969 Z28 Lemans blue with Oxford white GT style racing stripes and hood scoop. All the exterior chrome and bumper brackets have been replaced. I have installed GT style grill/fog lights with GT style exhaust for a throaty exhaust sound. I drive my 65 allot on dry days in the summer and it is very reliable. I have installed pertronix ignition and coil system for trouble free starts. This is a truely turn key/ drive anywhere car. I get allot of comments/ stares wherever I go with it from young and old alike. I am selling my 65 because I recently purchased and am starting to restore a 1968 fastback. I enjoy the restoration process more than the showing part of the hobby. Endless time and money was spent to finish my 65. To all my hobby friends..... I can assure you, you cannot purchase a project and restore it to this level for the reserve I have set. I know it looks great to buy a project for less money with plans of restoring it, unless you are like me, who does 99% of the work themselves you will quickly get up-side down on the project and will be selling it for 10 cents on the dollar. The 1968 Fastback I purchased recently was purchased from a guy who quickly got up-side down in it and had more money in the car than anywhere close to what it would be worth finished. Once you take something apart the project car becomes worth less than the sum of its parts till it gets finished properly which can cost much more than expected intitially because of all the hidden items on a car such as rust issues, which can be very expensive to repair properly. The market is down right now and buying a finished car if you are not handy is the only way to go. For my American/International bidders. I will arrange for my Mustang to be picked up at NBIT shipping facility 2301 W. Lafayette Blvd. Detroit Michigan 48216 where you can arrange for your shipper to pick it up there. I will provide you with a clean Canadian title in my name and a Ontario Canada used car package that will show previous owners and proof of title and more importantly the proof of no leins on the car for your piece of mind. You can then change the title in your home state/or country For the legal stuff. The Mustang is sold as-is / where is/ no warrenties expressed or implied. I require a $ 500.00 deposit through Pay Pal at auction end. The rest of the funds can be arranged through a wire bank transfer, certified check in person. The car will not be released till these conditions are met. Wow what a long ad EH !!! Thanks for looking and reading my ad. Always happy bidding ! On Jun-01-11 at 19:37:46 PDT, seller added the following information: I forgot to mention that I added upgraded front and rear sway bars and KYB shocks . Handles very well for a 40 plus year old car. On Jun-02-11 at 10:20:26 PDT, seller added the following information: To-nite I am going to take some more pictures of the interior. The ones I am currently using are blurry. I am also going to take a few pictures of the underneath. The undercarriage is clean as well. My 65 is a driver so the undercarriage is not spotless. I can only get 24 pictures on here so if you are interested in my car please E-mail me with your e-mail address and I will send you some pictures of the underneath as well. I am getting allot of positive responses and with many people asking about the reserve. Most people do not disclose the reserve, and I will not either. I can only say that if you want this Fastback bid with the intention of owning it. It is a real sharp car that you will enjoy trouble free driving as I have the past couple of years. On Jun-02-11 at 14:10:37 PDT, seller added the following information: I wrote the miles down as 61000 but it is actually 63,900 sorry for the confusion. I also tried to remove and add pictures of the undercarriage and better shot of the front seats but because there is already bids on my Mustang , I cannot change the pictures or the miles. Like I wrote earlier if you are interested in bidding but want to see the undercarriage shots just contact me with your e-mail and I will gladly forward them to you....On Jun-06-11 at 05:58:11 PDT, seller added the following information: I see allot of people watching but few bids. It is close to the reserve price , I suggest if you want this car to set a price you are willing to spend and go up in couple of hundred dollar increments till either you get close to the price you want to spend or to the point where the reserve is met. If no one bids and sits back trying to see what it will go for, you may run out of time and not get it. The reserve is set very reasonable considering what condition this car is in. I have not allowed any money for labor in this restoration because I realize the market is down. I have had a great deal of enjoyment restoring, driving and all the compliments that I received from this fastback , that it makes doing all that work worth while. With the cost of the fastback when I bought it and the parts I installed in it , my reserve price will cover that expense. The tires, rims and classic air system alone were over $ 3,500.00. Unless you can do every aspect of the restoration like I did I am positive you could not build a car any cheaper unless you chose to use used parts and cheaper materials. I am confident this is one of the nicest 65 fastbacks currently offered for sale on Ebay or any other site right now for the reserve price that I set. If you want this car bid, otherwise you will miss out on a fine car. Thanks
