This is a 1982 Chevette with the factory installed Isuzu 1.8 liter diesel motor and 5 speed trans. It runs and drives very well. Starts up easily after glow plug light goes off and doesn't smoke. Has incredible power for a small diesel, I was surprised. Clutch is strong, brakes feel good, I would drive this anywhere. Odometer says 76000 plus miles, It may have rolled over but the car runs like new and steering wheel "grip" is hardly worn at all and same for gas clutch and brake pedals, so I suspect low miles, but not sure... I had plans to put the diesel motor and 5 speed in a Datsun pickup, but I am just too busy to make it happen right now. (1965 Datsun 320 is for sale in another auction) Exterior appears to have original paint and has the normal dings and imperfections, but no major dents. Interior is decent at best, front seats have worn upholstery, also door panels are factory cheapo plastic and are not in the best condition, all scratched up, but not broken or cracked. Rear deck lid is heavy plywood painted black, much more stout than original cover and is good for heavier loads. Rear seat can be folded down for ample cargo room. Radio/ tape deck in the dash works with rear speakers mounted in the trunk area and is quite loud! Tires are like new, rear ones are traction type, front are passenger type. (previous owner was a "rock hound" and needed the traction.) I have a clear Oregon title signed in the correct place by the previous owner, and I have contact with him. Shipping will be on the buyer's dime, I do have a Uship account and can arrange shipping for you. I can also transport this on my trailer at 50 cents a mile round trip within a few hundred miles, give or take, with prior arrangement. On May-19-11 at 16:55:56 PDT, seller added the following information: I also have some maintenance records, including a recent one from a reputable shop here in town for timing belt change and inspection/ adjustments about 4k miles ago. I've also realized that the car odometer reads 66341 miles not 76999. Also, the passenger side sheet metal is kinda "wavy" in spots on the door and rear quarter panel. I can't quite get it to show up in pics. The rest of the car is quite straight. On May-23-11 at 19:59:04 PDT, seller added the following information: I am relieved the reserve has not been met as I neglected to mention that the fuel guage does not work- It shows past full no matter how much fuel is in the car. I also noticed that there is a small rock chip in the windshield at the very bootom of the driver side.. the cracks run down about two inches to the bottom of the windshield, so I believe it is contained where it is. It is not easily noticable or anywhere in the line of sight, but it is there.. I will try to post some more pics before the reserve is met.
