Vehicle Detail

This is a 1978 Volkswagen Westfalia Van that began and spent most of it's life in San Francisco, California. I bought it from a gentleman in South Carolina as a driving restoration project that has taken a back seat due to a 1966 Split window project that has begun. The body, due to it's west coast life is in relatively good condition. I have taken many pictures to illustrate both the good and bad, however if you would like me to take any more detailed pics of any part, please don't hesitate to ask. It starts up immediately and just drove it down the interstate at 65, but I believe it's going to need a rebuild in the near future as it has an oil leak and doesn't pull as well as it should. Also, the steering is pretty sloppy as most anyone who has driven one of these old timers can attest to and will need some attention. Although it does start right up and drive, I wouldn't recommend driving it home. There was also a front end impact that occurred some time ago and is the worst part of the vehicles cosmetic appearance. Some people may not mind this part, however as it does give character and patina to the van and in no way affectes it's functionality. There are also some minor surface rust at various spots on the van as you can see in the pictures and some dings and nicks, although the metal is in much better shape than most of the vans of this era. All of the tires have plenty of tread left and all of the glass is intact. The upholstery on the main bedding and top bedding are in very good condition. There are no foul, smoke, or pet odors. The van is relatively complete on the interior although I have not finished all of it's appointments. All the original curtains are there including the rear hatch mosquito netting. There is no stove, refridgerator, or sink, but I have located original ones that I could buy for the new owner for $200 if they so desire. Some people prefer the extra interior space. I do have a portable stove that I will include with the purchase that can be hooked up to the van's factory propane access points. It has a clean West Virginia title. The top camper canvas is intact, but I have purchased a new one that has zip out windows that is not installed but included in the sale. I'm sure I forgot some things, but I will be happy to answer any and all questions that may arrive. I will answer them promptly. There is NO RESERVE, so bid to win. This VW will sell. Thank you and good luck!!
