Vehicle Detail
Boy, it sure is tough to be an executive at an American car company these days, trust me I know one. Sales are in the tank big time. But it's not the first time this has happened. No sir, being an automotive executive in the years between 1929 and 1941 must've been an absolutely stomach-churning way to make a living, and if you were at the helm of one of America's many luxury brands, your future must've looked as dark as a thundercloud. Take La Salle, for example. In 1929, things were going along swimmingly for the brand that wore René-Robert Cavelier de La Salle's crest. That year, Cadillac's junior brand cranked out 22,961 in sales, and that was just two years after the brand had been founded. But the years following the beginning of the Great Depression were disastrous for La Salle and Cadillac both. In 1931, La Salle only managed to find 3,386 buyers for its fine cars. And if that wasn't bad enough, it was outselling Cadillac. Premium brands were dying daily, and the near future would've seen an end for La Salle, too, if it hadn't been for an all-new product from the pen of Harley Earl. The 1934 La Salle was an all-new car from the ground up, with a brand-new chassis, independent front suspension, an Oldsmobile-sourced L-head straight-eight engine, and the newly invented hydraulic brakes. Mechanically unchanged from 1934, the 1935 Series 50 La Salles nevertheless featured a whole host of styling updates, including a new bumper with overriders, a reshaped V-type windshield and cowl and a longer wheelbase. Along with the Buicks from this era, the immediate pre-war La Salles are perhaps the most indicative of the quality of styling of Harley Earl's years at General Motors, and the public answered the call. For the 1933 model year, La Salle built just 3,381 cars, followed by 7,217 cars for the 1934 lineup. Up for auction is an extremely rare car and one that is worth a small fortune when restored. This car was designed to sit between the Cadillac and Buick and the brainchild of the GM king, Harley Earl. Please review my amazing feedback. I have sold very expensive cars and have shipped them all over the world. Please call with questions and / or shipping quotes before bidding. I can ship to any country very inexpensively. ------------------------------------- 1934 LaSalle Series 350 Convertible Original Straight 8 cylinder engine built by Oldsmobile Original Transmission Rear end appears original but honestly don’t know for sure From the VIN plate it appears to be the 18th car built in 1934. No idea if La Salle considered a building order by body type. A little more than 7000 La Salle's (7128 / 7195 according to different sources) built and I would love to know how many convertible coupes were built...4 body styles made, all by Fleetwood. Car is need of a full restoration but what a great running base this is...hard to find them in such condition as this one. Basically the car is in overall great shape. The body is rock solid and no hits visible, no dings visible either. The grill is very straight too. The car has been stored in a dry place for a very long time. The headlights and tail lights have been chromed but they should be painted. Rust free car Car starts, moves and drives on its own power. It has never been driven on open roads for many years, always in storage. Wheelbase is 119", and the windshield its very low, adding class...looks almost chopped. Dash is quite complete and original, down to the heater. Also steering wheel is there, complete with the horn center. The doors are suicide and they have lot of sagging. Also the lower part of them sprung outside up to half inch, since the wooden frame inside is old and aged. The metal is in great shape, is simply a matter to rework the wooden frame on them. The ragtop is all there and complete...the metal iron bows are quite pitted, they need work but they are straight Equipped with the rear trunk case and metal base. Case has also some other spare parts included (pictured) Pics are quite detailed and will tell the story... I am selling this car for one of my friends who is an older, retired gentleman with an extensive classic car collection that numbers in the 50’s. This is one of about 3 cars that I will be listing for him. He has nothing but the best and as you can see from his house in the background, money is not an issue so please don’t email or call with low-ball offers. The price is firm and well worth it as the restoration cost him more than the asking price. He has homes in Laredo Texas, Guadalajara Mexico and Puerto Vallarta Mexico so he is not selling his collection for the money. Check out the pictures and you can see money was not an issue when restoring this car. He is thinning the heard as room is becoming a major issue with all the cars that he owns. I just sold a 1950 Ford Woodie of his on eBay for $56,999 if anyone wants to review the sale please check my feedback. I also just sold another 55 Pontiac Convertible for $52,500 to a gentleman in Florida and received amazing feedback for that sale as well. One of his cars was recently purchased and sold by Hyman ltd classic cars for $360,000 to a gentleman in Chicago. Anyone is welcome to call Mark Hyman at Hyman ltd classics to find out more information about my friend Pepe's cars. Here is the car that sold for $360,000: http://www.prewarcar.com/index.php?option=com_caradvert&id=10501§ion_id=1&view=ad&Itemid=108 Call me at 309-287-7527 with questions I can ship Worldwide very inexpensively Check out my other items!
