Vehicle Detail
I purchased the car in 1988.I had a new top,new interior, new paint and most bright work either replaced, rechromed or buffed.Nearly all mechanicals were replaced or rebuilt.Engine is a 1972, 400 cu. in small block Chevy which has about 20,000 miles since rebuild in 1990. Speedometer reads 16,103 but it's probably been around once to zero. Impossible to confirm actual mileage. It has two WCFB four barrel carbs and the snowflake dual quad manifold.Water pump, fuel pump, oil pump, master cylinder, and air cleaner were replaced. Tranny is a mid 60's Muncie that I had rebuilt in 1990. 3:55 ratio differential is out of a Chevelle that had about 2,700 miles on it when it was installed. Clutch and pressure plate have about 20,000 miles also. Top, interior, and paint are still mistaken for new at car shows. Most chrome is above average. A few pieces are driver quality. The paint, (Roman red), is 20 years old and although super shiny, has some scratches and hairline cracks, but still shows well. Car has won about 25 trophies, four of which were from the Roaring 20's car show in Southbury Connecticut, the biggest car show in New England with 1,000 cars annually. The car has won two seconds and two thirds at that show. The car is completely detailed as the pictures show. I have a 1960, 283 cu. in., 519 Chevy engine with a 1960 intake, WCFB carb and air cleaner plus 1960 Corvette totally rebuilt heads which will be included with the car. Engine is apart and could use rebuilding. Block hasn't been bored yet. I do not have the hard top for the car. Now for some minuses. I have had noisy throw out bearings replaced about four times since I've owned the car in 1988. Unfortunately the bearing makes noise occasionally when the clutch is depressed. I would have it fixed but nobody knows how to correct it aside from installing a new bearing. I have learned to live with it. Another problem I have about once a year is , one of the tranny shifting arms hangs up and I have to crawl under the car to pop it back into position. It's another puzzling problem I have learned to live with. As for the dual quads, I installed an Edelbrock performer cam before I installed the quads thinking it would handle them. The engine loaded up at idle, so I blocked off the front carb and it has run fine on just the rear carb. I set it up so you can't tell the front carb isn't working. The Wonder radio is freshly rebuilt, but blows the fuse when the Wonderbar is pushed. I have not had a chance to have it checked out yet. The radio works fine if you change the stations manually. There are some oil spots under the car which look mostly from the timing cover gasket. Car only goes out on dry summer days and sits the rest of the year so seals and gaskets are probably dried out. All in all, car runs and looks very well. Car is sold "as is" with no guarantee. $ 500.00 non refundable deposit required through Pay Pal, when bidding is over.
