Vehicle Detail
Up for Auction: My trusty, somewhat rusty Honda Civic. This is a great little car that still runs well but needs some TLC. 1990 Honda Civic Sedan 195K 5 speed manual, power windows and mirrors, Sony CD player & 4 new speakers, heat, 4-Cyl, 1.5 Liter. Great Gas Mileage: 30-35 mpg Kelly Blue Book Value on a '91 model of this car in fair condition is $880 (for whatever reason they don't seem to have a listing for a '90.) Please note: This car did not pass a recent Maryland Emissions Test. It is burning oil. The mechanic said it'll cost enough to fix the problem that it might be cheaper to replace the engine than to get the one that's in there now running clean enough to pass emissions. It has not been inspected since last year when it passed a MD safety inspection. When commuting or driving around town I put a quart of oil in about every week. It burns much faster when highway driving; I might put a quart a day or more in on a long drive. That said the car runs well for a vehicle with these miles on it. With a bit of work it could make nice commuter vehicle (30-35mpg!) The CD player and speakers were replaced a couple of years ago and still sound great. The engine still runs smooth. The engine burning oil is the major concern and why I am selling the vehicle. Other things that need fixing: Paint on hood is worn/faded. (See photo.) Hood was dented in a fender bender which also knocked off the Honda logo (see pictures.) Cosmetic damage only. Hood latch sticks a little but still works. Rust over both rear wheels was given a very poor bondo and duct tape job at some point job at some point. Needs to be ground off and re-done. Right front headlight needs the bracket replaced. The light is currently held on with tape. Rear drivers side door is missing the lock button. Door still locks if you move the interior mechanism by hand. Apart from the above noted issues this car is runs well and is a lot of fun to drive. It is easy driving in the city and makes wicked U-turns. It has a great stereo. If not for the burning oil I would not be selling and will be sorry to see it go. Update 5/8/11 A few things not listed in the original description: I noticed yesterday that the left rear tire looks like it is about to go. (Metal mesh poking through tread.) I did not list this in the original description because I had not noticed it until that time. If needed I can get a used tire to replace it so you can drive the car away, but it will need new tires on the back soon. In the process of cleaning out the car I noticed that there is no tire iron and that the jack is missing the crank. The A/C is not currently working. I think it needs a new compressor and dryer, as per an old work estimate (11/07) I found from when we first purchased the vehicle. I have many of the maintenance records documenting the vehicle's care over the years. It has had regular oil changes for the 3 years we have had it. The Cd player has an aux input so you can plug an mp3 player into the stereo.
