Vehicle Detail
Gorgeous Meteor Gray with Classic gray leather. Just 42,667 well-serviced miles. Power seats both sides, 16” Factory Fuchs, Raised hub steering, décor group, cruise control, original Blaupunkt, 4 speaker stereo, climate control, headlight washers. I scoured the market looking for a low-mile, documented 3.2 Carrera and this was it. Fully original, dead stock, unaltered, unmolested car. This was a 2 owner Alabama car, purchased new in Atlanta. I have the original window sticker and documentation. The only reason I'm selling this car is to begin a different car project. Comes with original dealer books, maintenance records, warranty booklet, plus original tools, original air pump, spare, and Targa tools (both sides). Car was regularly serviced, oil changed on schedule, any repair needed was done. Engine, Mechanical: Soon as I got the car one year ago, I had the local Porsche dealership remove the engine and do a full resealing and service. (Had a drip on the right side from the oil ‘dummy’ light.) Valves were set, gaskets and O-rings replaced, Cam lines, temperature sensor, new plugs, intake seals, cam seals, all replaced. Not a drop underneath. This was a $3,000 service that you don't have to spend. You can drive in confidence. Engine was detailed while removed. Engine sound pad replaced. Injectors flowed, filters replaced, clutch inspected. Car starts immediately, holds perfect idle, no smoke, full oil pressure, runs fantastically. Transmission, brakes, suspension: Car shifts up and down fine. 915 box is a delight to use, clutch action is light. Steering is super tight. New Fuzion ZRi tires on fully detailed Fuchs. Porsche dealer installed rear calipers 5 months ago. Brakes are excellent, as expected. Car handles terrifically. Body: Car has original paint except where I just had the decklid repainted due to heat-checking. (I have photos of the non-damaged decklid). Yet the remaining 90% of the car has the original, still shiny paint. Car was always garaged, well-maintained. There are the normally-expected pips and marks; car is almost entirely devoid of door dings. Overall, the paint looks exceptional. I have had the car detailed with Griot's clay, then polished, the Best of Show wax. Interior: Excellent leather seats, soft and supple. Entry bolster is nice, minor scuffing at very bottom. Door panels are outstanding, rear seats unmarked. The speakers were toast, so I replaced with the exact sized HZ speakers and grills. Original Blaupunkt cassette as originally installed. Carpet is excellent, and there are new Carrera script carpet mats. Targa top is nice throughout. New door seals on both sides. Even the rear seat securing leathers are in perfect shape. Overall: The 3.2s are wonderful drivers, very reliable, and easy to live with. Get classic looks and feel in a car that is thoroughly usable, along with steady appreciation. A good Carrera pays you to own it! This Carrera is a true survivor car, in outstanding condition. It has been well maintained, with supporting records and documentation. This car looks, runs, and drives excellent. It is truly in “ready to enjoy” condition. Fly in, drive home. Just clean out a spot in the garage! Bid to own this low=mile pristine, original Carrera. On Apr-28-11 at 20:10:56 PDT, seller added the following information: Gotten a few emails on questions I should've answered: > How's the air conditioning? Any electrical issues? Air is ice-cold. Works great. All fan speeds work and actually cools the car. Other bits work such as wipers, horn, defrost fans, interior lights in all positions, trunk light, engine light, glove box light. That stuff drives me crazy so I fix it. Oh, even the key light works. > Will you sell the car overseas? Sure, yet I don't mean to be a jerk ; I'm not going to deliver it to port. All that responsibility and expense is for the buyer. > What's your Buy It Now? I don't have one. It's just an auction. The high price is the high price and one person gets it. Also had a comment about the code tag specifying a "special order color". Meteor Gray was in the catalog, though rare, and cost around $800 on top of the car's 'normal' price. That's why you don't see it much. Hope this info helps. On May-01-11 at 20:09:12 PDT, seller added the following information: Had a few questions regarding options on window sticker; > Blaupunkt Monterey, shown, about $650 option. > Central locks. I left that out of the original description. As another power option, it's sort of handy, sort of dumb. > Alarm system. I thought they all had it. Also had questions regarding service receipts, maintenance. The records are in a 3 ring binder, in order of decending recency .A photo shown. Also, book was stamped by my dealer twice. Once to catch up the oil service, the other to show the full service. On May-03-11 at 07:57:38 PDT, seller added the following information: Update to Questions: Had a question/comment about the location of the 'Carrera' script on the decklid. That was lightly placed there before final polishing to take the photo. Have a brand new 'Carrera' script still in the package. Another question askign about the 'original' floor mats. This car has 'mats over mats' meaning these new "Carrera" mats (Lloyd mats) are placed on top of the original, excellent mats still underneath them. To make sure the transition is perfectly smooth and without concern, I took the car to the Porsche dealer for a final inspection and service. Car is fine, but 2 exceptions noted - - 1. They found a bulb out on the front right parking light and replaced that. No further issue. 2. I asked them to do a transmission oil service while it was in there using Porsche factory recommened interval and product. I had them pull the shifter access and lube the shifter cup at the same time though he suggested that wasn't needed. I'm a fan of preventive maintenance. That is it. The car runs, drives, looks, and performs fantastically.
