Vehicle Detail
This is a 1960 Austin Healy Bug Eye Sprite. My brother and I located this car on a ranch north of Los Angeles. We always wanted one, so we approached the owner, struck a deal and bought it. We drug it home. We then gathered a bunch of other parts for it. After letting it sit for a good long time, and starting several other projects, (most of which are still not done), we realize that we are in over our heads. We have decided to sell it. There is a modification that was done to the car. The guy we bought it from explained to us that he had bought it from a Shriner. The Shriner used the car for parades. At some point this same Shriner cut off the rear deck of the car behind that seats. Apparently this was done so that several Shriners could fit in the car, and jump out of the car in the middle of the parade. The area that was cut away now has a round "coping" along it, some sort of a half round metal. That is the bad part. The good part is that the car is mostly there, and the bonnet is in really good shape. The bonnet has a rust spot on both lower rear corners. I took pictures of these spots. There is one good door and one not so good door. The black driver's side door is not in as good shape as the passenger door. There is an extra radiator. There is an engine in the car, which my brother and I believe to be the original. We looked the numbers up on line, and they seem to be right. We have an extra engine and transmission, complete with carbs. I have no idea if the engines will run. I assume they both need to be rebuilt. We also have an extra rear end, from drum to drum. There is an extra front end. The front end includes everything between the wheels and the frame rails. There are 3 sets of seat frames and these are in really really bad shape. Four extra rims are also included. Also included are the black and yellow license plates that are on the vehicle. The interior of the car is rough, but the rust does not seem too bad to me. I tried to take pictures depicting the overall condition. The car should probably be seen in person. I can put up some more pictures, or answer any questions that you might have. If you would rather call, 818.605.7571, name is Jerry. There is a reserve on the car, and its about what we have into it. Please don't ask to end the auction early, cause we won't. The buyer needs to arrange for shipping, although we will be happy to help load it. If you want to come out and look at it, get a hold of me. The cars about 45 mins north of Los Angeles in the Antelope Valley. There is no pink slip. It appears that the car was last registered in the 70's. The guy we bought the car from gave us a bill of sale. We will do the same.
