Vehicle Detail
I purchased this camper 3 1/2 years ago, I’d been looking and this was the best unrestored one out there. It now has 60,800 miles on it. Here’s most of the text of the auction when I bought it (apologies to the writer): --------------------------- Vehicle Description ...I had looked for a long while and this was the best unrestored one out there. Part of the listing when I bought it: "Owned since 1976 by a VW mechanic. Van had only 6,000 miles on it when he took ownership. Always stored inside and covered. 2 panels painted, passanger door and middle panel on drivers side. (if I didn't tell you, you wouldn't know) otherwise all original and near perfect. Underside perfect, no rust at all. Had been treated with original Texaco rust proofing from VW. Van runs great. Has four new tires. Fuel tank removed and cleaned. All new brakes and brake fluid. has a few new front suspension parts. Interior is also original with front and upper hamocks in tact. All seats and coushions original with no noticable wear. Always had carpets over linolium flooring, looks new. Has all original curtains. Top also in original condition." My description: This camper is wonderful, I have driven it about 1,000 around New England and it runs like new, it sat all winter and started instantly. The engine and transmission are perfect. The suspension is tight and it tracks straight with no rattles. The top and screens are like new with no sighs of wear. The original formica paneling looks new and the birch ceiling and other panels are excellent. Front seats and door panels look new. Has cocoa mats over front rubber mat. Front floors look perfect (see photos). Has aux. temp guage (possible european option) which does not work.Everything else works. Radio with cassette. Paint has some stone chips which have been touched up over the years. Bumpers could use a respray, they are scuffed but no dents. Original engine (serial number shown on warranty book). Delivery was taken in Germany and after some use it was shipped back. Have original warranty and service book… I would not hesitate to drive this anywhere. You are encouraged to inspect it in Kansas. Auction will go the distance, please don't ask the reserve price but it is much lower then I paid.————————————— I’m including the original description from the auction I won, above, because it all still holds true. I’ve maintained it, the only thing I’ve had to replace is the brake master cylinder. Other than that I’ve loved having it. It’s time to sell it to someone who’ll love it and for me to find one I can beat up on just a little. The pictures are my own and mostly do it justice, more (better) ones from the auction when I purchased it are available on request as is a video walk around. Nothing at all has really changed with it but for some miles. I’m offering it at the same term I bought it as above, as I had such a pleasant experience with the seller. Thank you Gene. Along with the photos from the original auction when I purchased the bus 3 ½ years ago. There are some shots there of the original documentation too.
