Vehicle Detail
Normal 0 false false false MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 This auction is for my early 1985 BMW K100 “Standard” Motorcycle. It was manufactured in August of 1984. This is the rarest of all of the BMW "K" bike Two Valve engine motorcycles. Having only manufactured 1,932 in it’s U.S. configuration in 1985, it is a rarer bike than say the RS version (7,173 units made) or the RT version (6,726 units made). I have receipts for around ten thousand dollars invested over the course of three years for this motorcycle! Overall condition is good to excellent. Mechanically it is flawless. Cosmetically I'd say about 8-9 out of 10. Everything on the motorcycle was redone by myself or a BMW technician. The bike comes with the following extras: - Multivario Tankbag (one zipper is missing its tag, but still works fine.) - Motorcycle Cover - BMW Side Cases with original keys in good working condition. 1 bag is missing one of it's two locks. - Hookups for a battery tender and Gerbings heated riding gear. - New as of a month ago. . . . from Germany. . One of the last factory windshield setups for these early K bikes. BMW mentioned there were only 21 left in the factory. After that, they are a discontinued item. This shield is brand new and cost just under $500.00 alone from BMW!- Stainless steel brake lines - Progressive fork springs / Progressive rear shock. - Staintune Exhaust- Factory rear luggage rack- C.C. Products Air Scoop (San Jose BMW used these for the Salt Flats runs back in the day.) The following is a list of the repairs/maintenance: Complete New BMW clutch setup, New rear main seal, New starter motor, New starter free wheel gear set, New fuel pump, New fuel pump mounting with screen and filter, spark plugs and set timing. While the clutch area of the motorcycle was apart, inspection and greasing of the splines was also performed. The splines look like new! They are100%! This repair was in excess of $2,500.00 That said, here of some of the items replaced with new or NOS BMW parts and, in some cases, previously owned items which were hard to come by or not made any longer by BMW: New K75C “Euro” bars, New Paint DuPont BMW Sedan color code #273 “Island Green Metallic” basecoat / clearcoat, front forks rebuilt with New Progressive springs installed, New Progressive 412 Series rear shock, recent Metzeler Lazertec tires, Staintune exhaust, front and rear rims were stripped and powder coated 2007 Ducati frame gray in the centers . . polished the edges . . then each entire rim was clear powder coated to preserve the finish and make them durable . . just need to wax them now . . no more polishing to do!, battery, assorted relays, radiator fan assembly , radiator mash grille powder coated black for durability, New oil sight glass, New oil pressure switch, New complete water/oil pump unit, New steering head bearing set, glass beaded valve cover and crankcase covers which I then hand polished the fins as an accent, both engine case gaskets and the grommets on the attaching bolts, all fluids front to back are changed annually, New stock seat from BMW, New front and rear stainless steel brake lines, New front and rear master cylinders (not rebuilt units but new from BMW), rebuilt calipers front and rear, New front and rear rotors, Kevlar pads, New throttle cable updated to newer style, New clutch cable, New complete fuel cap setup on tank, foot peg and shift lever rubbers, New left hand switch for high beam etc., New right hand “Euro” headlight switch, headlight clear rubber protector, LED rear tail light (hidden in stock mounting), original optional (large) tool kit. New factory BMW center stand (not a used unit) As you can see and read, this particular motorcycle has many of the "period correct" optional add-on accessories from BMW and the higher end after-market. Those add to the collectible nature of this particular First Year BMW "K" Bike! This bike has been maintained to a high degree over the years. I spared nothing in it's upkeep. If it needed something, it was taken care of. It's that's simple. I'm of German heritage . . . go figure! lol You can ride this motorcycle anywhere. Fly in. . . ride home! Now is the time! Oh . . . One last thought: I call this a "convertible". You can have that windscreen off in about 7-8 minutes! Open air cruising! Also. . . remove the GS hand protectors (I used those for cold weather use) and put some Napoleon Bar-End Mirrors on and you have what I call: "A Cafe' Tourer". Hmmmm. . . . . . ;-) A fun bike for sure. A deposit of $500 is required within 48 hours of end of auction via PayPal. This will be refunded if something in the listing is not accurate or to your liking. If you have questions regarding the bike, ask them before you bid. Good Luck bidding on a true BMW Vintage Classic! Ride Safe!
