Vehicle Detail
1959 Mercedes Benz 4-door Ponton. Runs and drives and is currently licensed and insured. 4- speed manual transmission shifts smoothly clutch is good. New brakes on front with aluminum drums, dual wheel cylinders and new brake linings. New Coker BF Goodrich wide white wall tires. New 12 volt battery. Both carbs have been replaced. Motor runs smooth with no smoke, 45 lbs oil pressure. This car has been mechanically maintained. All parts that were replaced over the years have been saved and go with the car. Replaced spare parts include both carbs, generator, oil pump, brake booster, distributor, hubcaps and several trim pieces and electrical parts. There are some small oil drips under the car when parked. The body has a lot of patina and is in original un-restored condition with surface rust and pitting on some of the chrome, several small dents and dings, two small rust holes located at the right front near the radiator support and one at the right rear wheel well near the bottom. The rest of the car is solid. (See Pictures) Car is in original condition except surface rust in trunk has been coated with POR-15 rust repair coating and carpeted two small rust holes located in the bottom of each spare tire well have been repaired. The interior is in good condition the red seats and carpet are sun faded and teak wood has an yellow aged appearance with a few spots where the factory wood filler is cracked and falling out. The Steering wheel has cracks in the plastic that could be repaired with 2 part epoxy. The radio is a Becker Europa tube type long wave and british type with some sort of frequency converter, it still picks up a few stations. Outside the lacquer paint is faded and wore through in spots there are some areas that were previously repaired and touched up. The body panels are original to the car and so is the glass. There is no sign of any major damage. The spare tire and jack are still in place, the original owners manual and shop manual and an original set of keys come with the car. I hate to sell it it is a blast to drive and gets a lot of attention. You can strap surf boards to it and drive it to the beach as is, or restore it over time to concourse condition. It is for the most part, a 52 year old, complete and original antique. ***Clear tittle with no salvage or outstanding loans car is registered in seller's name legaly. *** Car is located in North Phoenix, Arizona. Buyer is responsible for all shipping costs and arrangements $500 deposit due at end of auction through PayPal.
