1979 Toyota Land Cruiser 4-Wheel-Drive ENJOY THE VIDEO OF THIS FJ40 ABOVE / PRESS PLAY In production from 1960 to 1984, Toyota's Land Cruiser is known for its rugged ability, durability and good looks. This example is powered by its 2F straight six engine paired with the stout 4-speed manual transmission. It has been finished in its factory correct original color of Freeborn Red and shows beautifully. The 1979 FJ40 models enjoyed important upgrades over previous generations. This example features power steering and power brakes. The 4.10 gearing the earlier examples utilized was replaced with a more highway friendly 3.70 gearing. Demand Respect! This FJ rides on recently replaced B.F. Goodrich T/A Mud Terrain tires sized at 33 x 10.5 on all four, with a matching rear mounted spare. These terrain ready meats are wrapped around new Aluminum Wheels. Recent upgrades also include new Rancho shocks and new brakes. This beautiful example has been well maintained. It is complete with the bikini top pictured as well as a full soft top and soft doors. We also have this custom set of diamond plated half-doors. Much time and upkeep has been invested in this Texas Rig. Over $4,000 in receipts from Cool Cruisers alone has accumulated recently. The interior features the orignal dash as well as these custom bucket seats and new seatbelts. The rear bench seat is by Cool Cruisers. The roll bar has been sanded down and refinished. The emergency brake works and the 4-speed shifts as it should. The clutch is strong. This is an easy Land Cruiser to drive. The body has been lined in a protective undercoat top to bottom. This is a dry climate example and features original sheetmetal. The red fnish has been professionally kept and shows well throughout. Under the hood is the strong running 2F engine. This 4.2 Liter powerplant is factory rated at 135 horsepower. The FJ40's utilized this engine from 1975 until 1984. The engine compartment is in very good condition throughout. The battery has just been replaced. This FJ40 sounds great. The muffler system has recently been replaced too. The original identification plate in in place, confirming this to be a Freeborn Red 1979 FJ40. The door plate is also intact. The finish shows well throughout. Over $1,000 was recently spent in paint touch-up work. The paint and body are in exceptional condition. The bikini soft top is in very good condition. I want to note that the full soft top and full-size soft door setup is also included as well as the diamond plate half-doors. Not included is a super rare steel hardtop and full hard doors and glass, along with a rear tailgate recently acquired and ready for paint. These parts have been media blasted and primed. The undercarriage features solid original flooring that has been protective-coated. I want to mention recent Rancho shocks installed as well as rebuilt brakes. This 4x4 is ready to enjoy.
