Vehicle Detail
I purchased this beautiful RX7 convertible 3 years ago from a dealer. The previous owner traded it in because it had a blown motor. I bought it because the body and interior are in such great condition. I originally planned to put a non turbo rotary replacement in it, but the turbo 2 motor and transmission didn't cost much more so I decided on that. It runs great and pulls hard running 8psi. Really pins you to the back of your seat! Here is a list of all that has been done: JDM B13 Turbo II motor and transmission swap Blow off valve Manual boost controller 3" downpipe High volume fuel pump Autometer boost gauge As you can see from the picture this car is in excellent condition in and out! I turn heads everywhere I go! There are some minor dents and scratches, but for a 23 year old car (or any car for that matter) looks great. It looks just as good as my 2007 Mazda 3! They sure don't makes cars like they used to. The top has no rips or tears and goes up and down just fine. There is no rust even in the wheel wells or under the car. Not even on the bottoms of the doors! All 4 brakes were done last summer and the battery was also replaced. The tires are like new with plenty of tread. The wheels are near perfect and are the original BBS ones. I have the hub tool and even the original owners manual! Power windows work fine, ice cold AC, heat works fine and blower motor works at all speeds and in all directions, alarm, power steering, suspension is great and alignment is perfect with absolutely no pull either left or right. The interior is all original. It does not smell like smoke or have any burn holes or marks. The only modification to the interior is the boost gauge. I never hooked up the light for it because I wanted to keep all of the original interior wiring intact. Now for the minor issues. There is a small split in the driver seat. It really isn't a tear, but more like the stitching for that seam has come undone a little. Looks like it wouldn't be difficult to fix. You can see it in one of the pictures. Windshield wipers only work on one speed and do not park. I'm almost positive it is just the switch. The power mirrors work great, but are not original. One was broken and I replaced both so they would match. They are a slightly different shade of white than the rest of the car. The engine runs great and strong, but as with any JDM imported motor the mileage is unknown. Judging by how clean it is and how it fired right up when It was put it I would say it has plenty of life left. It doesn't use a drop of oil between oil changes. When it is cold it does not want to idle. It starts right up every time, but when cold it will try to stall until it has been running for about a minute. After that it idles fine. This may be because the cold start features were never hooked up because I don't drive it during the cold months. The clutch works perfectly but when the pedal is all the way to the floor there is a slight rattling sound. I have had the transmission out each year and can find nothing wrong with the clutch or release or pilot bearings. The only thing I can figure is the motor came with a 2 piece pressure plate and while the pedal is pushed in to release the clutch it rattles. I know the noise is there but I have had passengers in the car who didn't even notice it. One last thing. The oil metering pump is not used on this setup so you MUST use some type of 2 cycle oil in the fuel tank. I chose to do this because the factory oil metering pump is not very reliable and is the cause of many blown rotary motors. Another reason being I wanted to use synthetic oil in the engine. Nothing but the best oil has been used since the swap. I use Idemitsu motor oil and fuel lube. They are engineered specifically for rotary engines. There will be 4+ quarts of fuel lube included and the oil was just changed last week. I have had zero issues in the 3 summers I've driven the car. It has been the most reliable older car I have ever owned. I hate to let it go, but my student loans are getting overwhelming and need to tame down the payments a little. Sorry about the long description but I don't want there to be any surprises. There is a low reserve on this vehicle. Thank you for looking and if you have any questions or want to see more pictures don't hesitate to ask. Good luck!
