Vehicle Detail
The short story: I'd love to keep this truck, but I don't want to pay for another year of Hagerty collectible insurance and I need to pay my taxes. So if you're looking for a summer project, you just found it! :) What you're bidding on [ignore the red truck in the pictures for a moment!]: a green 1965 International Harvester Scout 80 4WD, 152cid 4-cyl engine, 3spd transmission plus hi/lo and 2WD/4WD selections on the transfer case. Full length hard top is installed; soft top is also included. Note the rare back bench seat is ALSO included! :) Two gas tanks. Front and rear brakes were replaced last time the truck was inspected. The exhaust manifold and all associated tubing plus muffler were replaced about two years ago. At the same time I bought 5 new tires, and I have put less than 50 miles on the truck since then. As you can see, the rear passenger tire is flat - I'm not sure if it's punctured or just a valve stem leak, but we can either pump it up or swap out for the spare you see in the bed of the truck. Read more about the work I've done on this truck at http://www.larwe.com/scout/. But wait, there's more! You're also getting a LOAD of other stuff (not all of it is shown in the pictures) - please take as much of this bonus stuff as you can, or I have to scrap it and it represents about $2,500 in money I spent :( So here's the short list: Besides random bits I bought separately, I also have a significant percentage of a red parter truck of the same model and year. 152cid engine block is in that truck (I didn't finish disassembling it, but all the parts I did take off are in my garage waiting for you), and the differentials, hubs and frame are good; it also has four rims with maypop tires on them. Amongst the other piles of stuff I have a spare steering column + wheel, a complete spare dashboard with all gauges and an original factory radio on it, spare carburetor, various additional spare gauges, oil filters (CH333PL). Three additional spare rims (these match the spare tire in the green truck). A complete spare transmission that I blasted clean and painted, and began to rebuild - you will have to finish this project. Spare radiator core. Brake/clutch pedal set. A complete spare t-case that I didn't get around to taking apart yet, too. The big plate of heavy-gauge steel you see propped up behind the red truck was originally welded into its bed, you may want to take it for the same purpose. Notes on condition: The truck has not been started in about 6 months, but it was registered and inspected and I drove it infrequently - it was drivable. The main issue is that both gas tanks have rust holes - I repaired the driver side tank, but it has rusted through again and you can only put a couple of gallons into it. I will charge the battery and with a bit of juggling we can get the engine running for you, but I strongly advise you to tow or flatbed it. THIS TYPE OF TRUCK MUST BE TOWED BACKWARDS WITH T-CASE IN 2WD MODE AND HUBS UNLOCKED! Bodywork is in fairly good condition, considering it's over 40 years old - rust in the usual spots (floors and rocker panels). Inspection, payment and removal: You can come see this vehicle on the weekend of April 2-3, but if you don't take it away by April 4th, you'll need to wait until Sunday the 10th because I'll be traveling. I am happy to accommodate storing the truck and parts right up till the end of August if necessary, but a deposit of $200 by PayPal or cash is required within 48 hours of winning the auction. The maximum "pay in full" time I can set in eBay is 14 days, sorry, but I can be flexible on this if you need time to get the money together. Registration gets signed over to you when final payment clears. I CANNOT DELIVER THIS VEHICLE. However I will happily work with your shipping company if you can't make it in person and want a third party to truck it away. Click any picture below for a larger version. PICTURES WILL TAKE TIME TO LOAD - PLEASE BE PATIENT! :) On Mar-30-11 at 07:33:52 PDT, seller added the following information:I believe the top I have for this is the half-length safari top. It has removable metal frame pieces that are assembled first, then the soft top is stretched over them. I will try to take pictures of this top (on the ground only) Friday night or Saturday morning. It's light brown. You can see a couple of the pieces of frame (they are black tubes wrapped in canvas) in one of the pictures of the shelves, they are peeking out from between boxes. On Mar-30-11 at 15:02:52 PDT, seller added the following information: Okay - class was canceled tonight so I ran home and got pictures of the soft top (most of its bits anyway). Looking at it in the light I don't think it is original IH but I can't really tell. There are some other metal bits but they were too far back for me to grab quickly. I also found that I have a spare set of glass for the hard top (pictured), as well as a distributor and another spare radiator core :/ I spent WAY too much on spare parts!
