1995 Chevrolet Caprice Wagon, 13,622 original miles! Details last updated Sun, April 3rd. Starting bid just reduced by $2000, no reserve! **Attention** Please read entire auction, look at photos and ask any questions before bidding. Please make sure you have funds secured or available to buy this vehicle before bidding. By placing a bid, you're agreeing to purchase this car if you are the high bidder. $500 non refundable deposit due within 48 hours of auction close, and remainder of final payment due within 7 days of auction close. This is a legally binding contract, and failure to abide by the terms of the auction or non payment will result in a complaint to Ebay along with negative feedback. Any inspection of the car must be completed prior to placing a bid. Although I have made every attempt to accurately describe this car, it is used and sold as-is with no warranty. Although an extremely nice low mile example, this is not a perfect show car, and may have or develop mechanical issues at any time. Vehicle mileage may increase slightly by end of auction due to test drives, etc. I encourage and welcome you to inspect this car in person if you can! Now that that's out of the way, let's get to the details! Overview: As a long time fan of the Chevrolet Caprice, I jumped on the opportunity to purchase this car at auction in 2008 from McCarran Airport in Las Vegas. The Caprice wagon is such a unique vehicle, and to find a clean rust free low mileage example is like finding a needle in a haystack. This one originally had a small flashing light on the roof, and airport markings on both front doors, although I don't know what it was used for while assigned there. I have driven this car occasionally over the past three years, but it has primarily been stored and not registered or re-titled. I have a clear Nevada title issued to McCarran and signed over to me. The wagon has not been driven regularly since paint and body work completion. It runs and drives just as you would expect of a low mile Caprice! A real treat to drive, and a true time capsule. Unfortunately, it is NOT a 1A2 "Special Service" package, and wasn't a CHP or LAPD car, but resembles what was used by some major police and highway patrol agencies. The look I was going for was what you would get if you crossed a 1A2 police wagon and an Impala SS. The majority of the personality of this car is dictated by the wheels. You could easily add larger chrome wheels for a different look if you chose to after purchasing. If you wanted the more genuine 1A2 look, I have a set of N97 police steel wheels, center caps, and the factory chrome grille also available for sale to the high bidder. Per the RPO code tag, this is a low optioned fleet model. It does have an LT-1 V8 engine, 4L60e auto transmission, power locks, power steering, tilt wheel, cold A/C, digital MPH/KPH switchable cluster, GM pass key theft deterrent, power rear hatch release, AM/FM Cassette radio, manual windows, manual mirrors, retail version cloth interior/vinyl 3rd row seat, power front disc/rear drum ABS brakes, factory stainless dual exhaust, dual mechanism swing and drop down tail gate, and dual airbags. Everything on this car functions as it should! Upon getting the car home after purchase and inspecting it, I found old body work covering minor damage on both rear 1/4 panels, in addition to a dented hood and several dings/dents and scratches consistent with a 13 year old fleet car. I found that the driver's door was not the original, but could not find any evidence of major body or any structural/frame damage to the car. Being an original desert southwest car, it has no rust. Because the car needed minor body work and paint, I decided to add some mild custom exterior modifications prior to new paint. I left the car factory white in order to keep a clean, tasteful appearance. Add your custom graphics, pinstripe flames, rockabilly airbrush design (a pin up girl riding a bomb on the 1/4 panels would look cool), wood siding, police markings, company logo, wrap, etc! This car would make an awesome daily driver, delivery vehicle, promotional vehicle, grocery getter, kid hauler, custom security vehicle, parts hauler, or you could even tow your show car behind it with the right equipment! Modify it, or leave it as is. I have seen these cars go 150,000+ miles in their stock form, as they are true workhorses. This wagon remains mechanically stock. Nothing has been modified that would affect it's reliability as a daily driver. The possibilities are really endless, all for the price of a used Honda Accord! Please see this link for a website I recently found that translates the "regular production option" (RPO) codes by VIN # for this car. I can't guarantee the accuracy, but it seems correct: VIN # Decoder Exterior: New single stage factory color white paint. High quality 2k primer + sealer + 2 coats of color + integrated clear coat. Both bumpers, grille, tail gate shroud, and lower rocker moldings removed and painted off of the car. Most trim and all lights removed from the car prior to paint for good coverage. This is a very good quality, professional paint job. Custom shaved factory roof rack, rear window wiper and hood ornament. Very labor intensive and done right. All holes welded, and custom steel filler pieces welded into the roof where the side rails were. Once this was done, a protective layer of weatherproof Duraglas was laid down, followed by a final hand formed/sanded top layer of high quality Evercoat Rage filler. See pictures! Old body work repaired on rear 1/4 panels, along with any dings or dents I could find. High quality Evercoat Rage filler used where needed Hood replaced with an undamaged donor. Insulation pad removed (included) and underside painted to match exterior. Under hood light works properly and the lens is still there! New driver's front fender due to several minor imperfections on old one New OEM style Impala SS Grille with new blue Chevrolet bow tie emblem Shortened and black painted factory radio antenna Deleted factory body side molding Aftermarket "smoothie" front bumper and rear roll pan. Because these are aftermarket and made of fiberglass, they look very good, but do not flex and fit as perfect as original equipment. One minor issue is that when the tailgate is opened flat, it rubs slightly on the top lip of the roll pan in a hidden area (look for the blue tape in pics of the gate area). If the gate is swung open, there is no rubbing. I felt that these issues were worth the trade off for the ultra clean custom look. Original rear bumper parts included also with the exception of the bumper cover. Silver wheel well trim removed, fender lips and screw holes filled for a clean look Gloss black powder coated 17" Impala SS wheels with new aftermarket OEM style silver center caps. No curb rash or blemishes Tire Works brand "Fuzion ZR-1" low profile factory Impala SS size 255/50/17 tires with 90% tread left Five new "Gorilla" brand chrome locking lug nuts per wheel Interior: Headliner re-covered in new matching OEM style tan cloth Original cracked dash pad replaced with a nice, un-cracked matching used one One section of carpet replaced in cargo area Dual airbags (93 and earlier models have driver's side only) Original "Light Beige" seats, carpet, door panels, etc. with minor wear Light visible wear on driver's area carpet and rear cargo area. Passenger seat, rear seats and third row seat all look and feel as if they were never sat in. The factory protective plastic is still in the foot well of the third row seat Rear window roller guides replaced with new updated versions and mechanisms lubricated. All windows operating properly No interior fading due to aftermarket tint previously installed on windows. I have since removed all of the tint due to it's poor condition. Ready for new tint to suit your taste and or local laws Window glass in very good to excellent condition. No cracks or chips Door panels in excellent original condition. No holes in dash Bright digital dash cluster with clear readout Courtesy dome light and rear cargo lights working as designed Visors and rear view mirror in excellent condition Seat belts in excellent condition Steering wheel in very good condition. It's fading at the top, but there are no chunks taken out or wear to the foam (see pics). I can provide the high bidder with matching interior dye to fix this. Factory AM/FM/Cassette radio and four speakers function properly A/C system working properly. Control knobs in tact and tight. A/C blows cold, heat blows hot Mechanical: No mechanical or suspension modifications, so reliability and driveability is not an issue Stock 5.7L 350 cubic inch LT-1 V8 engine. Starts right up, very quiet and tight, full power. Just changed the oil and filter. Rated at 260 horsepower, 330 foot pounds of torque from the factory 4 speed 4L60e automatic OD transmission and factory transmission oil cooler. Shifts are tight and smooth, as they should be Rear wheel drive, factory 2:56 rear axle ratio 105 amp alternator Factory dual electric fans (similar to police package) Factory front disc/rear drum ABS brakes with no issues. Front pads look close to new Stock "F40 heavy duty" suspension. No rattles, squeaks or unusual noises. The car handles surprisingly better than you think it would, but is very comfortable to drive. I also have a set of blue Sprint lowering springs available that drop the car 2" in front and 3" in the rear. These are not installed on the car, but can be negotiated into the deal if the new owner is interested. No visible leaks No overheating issues Water pump and Optispark functioning normally Power steering functions normally, but there is a slight audible whine. No on center slop in the steering, no wander, no pulling Passed smog in 2008 prior to being sold to me. No changes made to smog equipment, engine or exhaust since. I wouldn't hesitate to drive this car across country in it's current condition! As you can see, I have tried to be as detailed as possible in describing the car to avoid any issues, but there may be things I have missed. Take a look at the pictures and feel free to email me or call at (702) 812-9289 anytime after noon with questions! Some of the pictures show the car under construction, but the car is now complete, as shown in the main Ebay photos. Zero feedback bidders must contact me prior to bidding. Auction is open to international buyers, but shipping/freight arrangements are your responsibility. US bidders, fly into Vegas (at McCarrain Airport!), pick up a temporary DMV permit and drive this car home. I can pick you up, or if you choose to ship the car, I can assist and coordinate with your shipper. I can also store the car in my secure garage for a limited time after full payment is received. Place your mouse arrow in the lower right corner of the slide show box below and click on the "VIEW ALL" button to see 6+ pages of pictures documenting car from it's original condition, during construction to completion. Please bid early if you're interested in this wagon, as I have had a couple of offers near my original $10k starting price, and lots of interest since the auction has started. The opening bid may be the price the car sells for, as there's no reserve and I will not be ending the auction early. Thanks for looking, and good luck!
