Vehicle Detail

1996 Suzuki RMX250. Last of the enduro/GNCC bikes from Japan. Near RM250 performance though slightly tamer for off-road and trail use. Suspension considered very good for single track, and setup from the factory for 140-170 lb rider. (Mileage above is a guess as it requires an entry.) Legitimately converted to CA street title due to having EPA-emissions sticker on frame (see pix). Lawfully/legally-titled and registered in CA under my name via the criteria is listed under a CHP publication and allowance made within the CA DMV personnel handbook to convert from green sticker to road legal. Current title is in my hand, and the sticker valid though Nov 2011; I've renewed it before in that month - no plate recall whatsoever like others have experienced. No longer fully equipped as the dual-sport kit was acquired by my son for his RMX; since I ride only in the dirt, and have moved from CA, the Baja Designs kit is now on his, and he is not about to let it go as he currently lives in CA. Wide-ratio 5-speed transmission, heavier flywheel, side stand, lights and lighting coil, odometer, 18" rear wheel, enduro porting, large yet slim 3-gallon gas tank, Zerk linkage and swing arm-grease fittings, O-ring chain all stock factory. All original plastic (exc. rear fender and plate extension), seat, cables. Complete original exhaust included, unless you do not want it. Aftermarket FMF expansion chamber and DynoPort spark arrestor (more robust than FMF's), and new Wiseco top-end kit with RM250 head gasket and new Honda premix coolant recently done. Aftermarket (Boyesen) intake reeds in very good condition (have pix); air filter good. Jetted per FMF website guide, adjusted for my altitude and weather - YMMV - perhaps Boyesen's specs are even better. Buyer should consider a new front sprocket eventually and a new master link (original chain still in specs) as the clip does wear thin. Eventually tires will be needed. All these work fine though should be budgeted for later replacement. Everything else in good working order; nothing else in need of replacement. Selling with intent to buy a replacement highway-compatible bike; this one's okay for connecting trails but not comfortable for longer trips on the road (I'm almost 60 YO). Off road it's like a dog that tugs on the leash although it has a tamer side for single track - it is all up to the operator. This one's been to Moab a few times, Sierras (Kennedy Meadows) Hungry Valley and Ballinger Canyon - works so well at these places my son bought his own. The guys I ride with have $8k+ bikes (Husaberg, KTM 530), and on trails I lead effortlessly; once we see pavement they click into higher gears and lope along while mine is a bit buzzy - I've experimented with taller gearing though there goes goat-trail capacity. It seems prudent to get the right tool for the job instead. I have a few more pictures of the Wiseco piston/rings/wrist pin/circlips/wrist-pin bearing/RM gasket installation, so please ask only if truly interested and intend to bid. Note my 100% feedback - I strive to be honest and forthcoming on all my sales. This thing runs like a champ; I'm not one anymore and prefer something more appropriate for my age/casual pace/use. I will deliver to anywhere in the southwest for to/from gas money; figure 20-miles/gallon to your place of preference. Colorado, Utah, Arizona, Nevada, Texas, and southern/mid California okay. Oklahoma and northern California is a push. I don't recommend shipping though I can crate for no charge and deliver to your depot of choice though shipping will be yours to determine, coordinate, and pay - figure 275-300 lbs on a flat forklift-able open-metal pallet, strapped down as these are used to ship Harley Davidsons with; look behind the an HD dealer to get an idea. I've heard Uship is a good source where shippers compete for your business. No warranty given nor implied. Riding off- or on-road can be hazardous - use at your own risk.
