Vehicle Detail
Remember when America was King of the Car Industry and Kaiser made Jeeps? This is a nice solid 1966 Jeep Kaiser Gladiator that is straight and a good driver, and now a nice part of American history. It is not showroom, but it is a solid mostly original Gladiator and it is still a good driver. It is being sold with NO RESERVE, so if you are lucky you could drive it home for a very good price. History: This Jeep spent its life in California until 6 months ago. It was used on a ranch in Esparto, California. The elderly gentleman who sold me the car had kept it for the last two decades at his cabin in Northern California where he used it for periodic hunting and fishing. The Jeep has a newer paint job and the upholstery has been redone. There is no underside damage and no rust holes. The bed and rear fender wells are in great shape. The floor pans and rockers are original and there are no dents in the rockers. I had my Jeep mechanic go through it and made sure it was in good running shape--new battery, new plugs, condensor and points. All fluids have been changed and some of the belts replaced as well. It has been fun for me, but I now need to downsize my collection of classics. Transmission is a four speed with the granny first gear. Front hubs are Waren. Tires are 31 x 10.5 R15 and there is a full spare tire with both Ford and Jeep Centers. The rear end has been changed to a Ford posi traction. The aluminum camper shell was made by Flair Truck Top in 1985. There is a tow bar and cable chains. The tail gate has been replaced and while not original--it looks and functions great. The windshield has a chip that has been repaired. The truck had two fuel tanks at some point, but the front tank is missing. The gauges work except for the speedometer and the fuel gauge. The four wheel drive works. The engine fires right up and runs strong. Passersby get very interested in this Jeep and it is always the topic of conversation at the gas station. It is very attractive and a practical car to own. It could continue to be used for hunting or fishing or as a daily driver. Mechanics like to work on these as they are relatively simple. It is a 1966 model--so no smog checks/emissions tests are necessary. It is a 45 year old truck and so it is being sold without warranty. Please bid only if you have the funds and are serious.
