Vehicle Detail
'91 Capice Wagon. For the age, body is in good shape. In it's previous life is was used as general transport for the state of IL DOC, so it has a lot of highway miles, but was maintained to the nth degree. There are some dents and dings an a couple rusts spots, but nothing bad. Body is dark gray. Interior is in great shape. Red cloth seats. Carpet does have a wear spot by the driver's food. Also one small piece of red plastic trim in the back by the hatch is broke. Easy fixes. Forget the clutter in the front seat. It's just paperwork from all the parts I've bought. Now on to the good stuff... Factory this was a Throttle Body Injected EFI 305. I've tossed out the 305 for a super low mileage TBI 454. It was prepped for storage prior to being installed (oil injected into the cylinders, fuel stabilizer ran through, etc). The 454 is currently in the wagon but not completely installed. I was working on getting all the accessory brackets to make everything work (I believe that is all good to go) when I switched jobs, moved, and now in law school. I just have no time to complete it. I have a custom "305" chip for the computer to run the 454, a K&N air filter (which will fit in the stock air cleaner, which fits on the 454). I also bored out the stock 454 exhaust manifolds. An Edelbrock 454SS combo (intake, cam) and some shorty headers would really open this thing up. The stock wagon has 2.73:1 rear gears. Way high. I have some stock gears out of a Caprice 9C1 (cop car). Been so long since I purchased them I cannot promise their number, but I believe they are 3.08:1 (or they are 3.28:1). Not 4:11's, as I wanted this beast to be a cruiser/sleeper. I also have a nice high end hitch/receiver for this wagon. I planned on using it like a souped up and cooler looking Suburban. Also has a trans cooler, and has a custom Impala SS radiator (has a double cooler one on each side of the radiator... one is for the stock trans cooler hook-ups, and the other is for the engine oil cooler hook-up). The 454 already has the hook-ups for an oil cooler. I have Impala SS front and rear springs (with the added weight of the 454 and the rear of the wagon, it should sit about 1/2" or slightly lower than a factory Impala SS). I also have a set of Impala SS wheels/tires. If you want it, I have a 2-in/2-out catalytic converter (was going to build a true dual exhaust). Also have a 9C1 instrument cluster with the plastic piece needed to make it fit (the piece is blue, but can easily be painted black). The 9C1 instrument cluster has the 200mp speedo and factory tach. I also dug up a factor CD player for that year (hard to find as most of them in those years came from Pontiacs, which have red lighting). There is SOOO much potential in a vehicle like this. It could be the cool tow vehicle for your camper, race car, or boat, with some more speed mods a monster on the strip, or an amazing street sleeper. I wanted to use it as a cool utility/tow vehicle while still being a sleeper. Planned on keeping the interior mostly stock, retain the dark gray factor paint, with a black two-tone, and a sliding ragtop (check them out... it'd look amazing on this style of wagon!). I have seen a lot of crazy paint schemes on these wagons, and they look great like that, too (big canvas to work with!) or a great platform for a custom sound system. It has been sitting in my garage for several years while I acquired parts. However, I no longer have a place to store it so it's sitting outside (parts are still in the garage). Now I'm going to law school and really don't have the time to finish it up. I can part all this out and easily make more than my asking price. But I really want to see somebody complete it.
