Vehicle Detail
I am selling my 1974 Dodge Challenger.E-Body Mopar. Rare-ish (they only made 11,000 in 1974) :) This was my first car that I bought on my 15th birthday and I have owned it since 1995. I purchased it running sans transmission and drove it for about 6 months after putting in a 727 Torqueflight automatic. After 6 months I decided that I needed to "tear into it and make it a real hot rod". I rebuilt the entire engine, put it on the dyno (400 hp), broke it in, drove it for about 1500 miles then parked it. It gets started every few months to make sure it's still in running condition. Along the way I stripped it down, addressed any small rust issues and put a quick paint job on it (with almost no body work) - so I know the body is fairly straight and almost totally rust free (I noticed a small rust spot on the driver's door the other day about the size of a silver dollar). The car was originally the Deep Sherwood Metallic (green) with a factory white vinyl top. I removed the top but all chrome trim is in the trunk and is completely clean. The factory air conditioning is in the trunk as well - with all numbers-matching other miscellaneous parts & pieces that I kept after the rebuild since it would be bad mojo to throw out the original parts. The interior is "lacking" and needs attention. The dash is cracked, the center console is in good condition, the seats are ugly and need a bit of work. All interior trim & panels were dyed black (from green) and look great. It has recently received a metal tape rear window as my 2 year old decided to practice throwing rocks. It was around this time that I realized that it wasn't doing me any good sitting around so I've decided to sell it. Here are some of the specs and pictures:318 ci motor with around 2000 miles on the rebuild and around 400 hp. There is transmission fluid (not oil) on the engine from when my brother decided that the transmission cooling lines were a great support for a jack and the spinning fan distributes fluid quickly in an engine compartment.750 cfm Holley 4 barrel carburetor (vacuum secondary)Edelbrock aluminum dual-plane intake manifoldcustom headers & exhaust727 Toqueflight automatic transmissionIt sits on wide torq-thrust D wheels on back & chrome kidney-beans on the front. With mismatched rollers for rubber.I will upload more pictures soon since I'm currently out of town (I've pulled it into the garage & started cleaning stuff since these few photos were taken last week). I pulled it (under its own power) into the garage & gave it a quick cleaning so I could get some better shots. You will see that the interior is better looking but the seats are only covered up. Overall I think it presents a better view of how it sits currently. At least you know it drives.
