The general: Up for sale is a Arctic Silver 1998 BMW 540i Sport. I've owned this vehicle since September of 2007. This is a E39 a specific body type which means the car was manufactured between (1995 - 2003) and sold as a (1998-2003) 540 model car. This BMW's build date is November 11th 1997. It rolled out of the factory in Germany for it's owner in California, It came with 282hp and 320 ft/lb's of torque, Premium wheels package, Stiffer shocks and struts, Premium Audio which with the DSP amp and 12 speakers in the car, extra optional airbags, traction control, ABS (4-wheel), Air conditioning, Power windows, pneumatic security locks, cruise control, power steering, telescoping wheel, AM/FM stereo, Cassette player, dual power seats, Leather, moon roof, The good: This BMW also has a stage 3 DINAN engine chip, and a stage 2 DINAN transmission chip which effectively pushes the rev limiter another 300rpm and reduces shift time by .20 of a second. It has a custom intake and exhaust with a 0-100 km/h time of 5.2 seconds. The engine has been very solid. These E39's came with a unique problem I hope the engineer who designed the cooling system got fired. Fortunately though, I've replaced all the components of the cooling system so it's just like new. (Water pump, thermostat, radiator, cross over cooler). It has a M-Technic front bumper ( check pictures ) The Odometer does show correct mileage, the instrument clusters in these cars sometimes start to lose pixels making it unreadable. A DMV employee having a bad day ( surprise! ) decided to write that mileage was not legible when a few pixels were missing. The Instrument cluster has since been replaced. You can see a record of mileage in the title check for validation. The bad: The original engine in the car hydro-locked which means the engine sucked in water rather than air and water is not compressible so the engine seized. The amp in the car was replaced with a Ken-wood ~650 watt amp which is installed where the stock amp was to preserve trunk space it has an auto-shutoff and smart-start. I decided to keep the Head-unit of the radio stock for aesthetics, the head unit went out and needs to be replaced. The Sunroof is inoperable. The Rear left door handle is broken ( check pictures ). I removed the rear left door to replace it, about a 45 minute job. I got too busy and never got around to replacing it.
