Vehicle Detail
Please Watch Video Before Scrolling Down History Behind This Mustang - Herbert Buehler owned "Buehler Tank & Welding Works". He sold propane tanks to Drew Ford Motors in LA Mesa, California. Herbert was business friends with Elmer Drew, the owner of Drew Ford. Herbert ordered his wife this GT Convertible just the way she wanted it. He purchased the car thru the Drew family. 11-16-65: Upon arrival, the Buehler family including Charles there son went to pick up the Mustang from Drew Ford as it was being delivered that day. Herbert's wife balery drove this Mustang over the next 15 years as it was her once in a while, weekend car. Always garaged & well taken care of. In 1985, she passed away leaving it for her son, Charles. He understood how much this car meant to his mom & family. It was kept in the same condtion as his mom has had it. In 1989, the car was parked in the garage, put on blocks, covered with two car covers & a blanket. Well preserved & hidden away for 22 years not to been moved since 89'. The Buehler's never had any intentions or thinking on selling it. It was covered & kept away. On 10-28-10 was the first time the GT seen daylight. It was the first time it was uncovered or moved since 1989. Rolled out a few feet from the garage right onto a flatbed truck, straight back into another garage. Never been advertised & Up For Sale for the first time any where at 5 Days & A No Reserve Auction... __________________________________________________________________________ This is a Rare 1966 Ford Mustang Factory GT Convertible in Survivor condition. Remains all original & unrestored. Only to have 64k original miles. Factory options include GT Package, 289ci 4bbl A Code - C4 automatic, Interior Decor group ( Pony int. ), air conditinor, stero AM-tape player ( 8 track ), front Disc brakes, power steering, power top, console, remote mirror & wheel covers. Only options she did not order was the ralley pac & style steel wheels. Remains very original including the paint - top - chrome/trim - interior - trunk - drivetrain. Was never repainted & remains the original "Sauterne Gold" paint with Black GT stripes. Ivey Gold two tone Pony Interior & a white top. Still has factory inspection stamps under the hood as well as factory overspray/markings. The Rear license plate still has the unmoved, tie down decal under the plate. The top remains all original including rear glass. Built at the San Jose Ford plant & delivered to Drew Ford In LA Mesa, California. Spent it's entire life in Santa Ana, garaged most of its life including the last 22 years. Has not seen rain or any harsh weather since the last two decades, always been covered. Never seen snow or been driven on a salted road. A very solid Mustang thru out, you can tell by taking a look at the photos & video. The floors & undercarriage are 100% original. Remains most of the Red oxide on the underneath. Frame structure, torque boxes & underside is as clean as they come. You would only have to expect it on a Southern California car. Original paint is still in good shape for being 45 years old. Normal wear & dings from over the earlier years. Not in show condtion as it was a driver for her in the earlier years. The Ivey Gold Pony interior is complete & unrestored. Never been altered or taken apart. It's in good shape for it's age. No aftermarket speakers or cut outs. Original 8 trac player is still in working condtion. The rear glass stiching on the passenger side has opened a bit. I did not want to stich it cause it's original. Now the drivetrain. It was taken to a Vintage Ford specialist to get it running since it was sitting for a long time. A new battery, rebuilt the carburetor, drained all fluids, blew out the lines & started right up. New 195/75R14 Firestone tires were added so it can be driven. Under the hood is very original with the exception of a couple of horns & a bell on the floor added. Bone stock drivetrain sums it up. The engine/trans/exhaust/Axle was never taken out of the car. It's in good running & driving gear. Transmission shifts into all gears. Brakes stop well and does not overheat. When driving, you can feel it only has 64k original miles. The trunk has not been touched, springs & mat. The original spare is long gone but the factory scissors jack & socket handle are still in place. The stock Ivey Gold booth - bag & foam in the trunk as well. Trunk is in very original condtion as you can see in the video. Original documented with owners manual with buyer & dealer information - Dealer Envelope - registration cards as early as 75' from Herbert - Service record stickers - AAA transfer slip from Charles (son of owner) - insurance card - pink slip from 85' & last 89' registration. I found in the glovedbox a box of matches with the original owner's business name. They match up the information on the manual book. Everything works as it should including the power top. On the fog light wire still has the part # decal tag "C6ZB". The correct tag on steering box reads "HCC AW 5J17P". Correct GT exhaust brackets & reinforcements. I uploaded a few pictures of the car being taken with the family in Feb.1980. The Drew Ford dealer is still in La Mesa, California. We spoke to them recently about bringing in the car and they said they love to see it again. A True California Survivor that is rare to see. You can search all year (or years ) to find one this original with history & being family owned since day one. Not often a Mustang like this comes around, let alone a Authentic GT Convertible. The new owner will be lucky to own this Mustang. Sure there are plenty of restored & unrestored Mustangs out there but how many times have you seen a California 66' GT Convertible that was garaged more then being driven? A car well preserved and pampered it's entire life. Remaining it's original paint & never to been abused. Only being registered to the original family owners. Never was entered in any show or taken to any swapmeet. Rare to hear that for a close to 50 years old car. Correct & original sums it up. Serivce record sticker on driver side jam indicate On 1/10/80 it was serviced thru Valvoline Motor Oil at 57,800 miles. Another sticker shows it was serviced at Chervon on 10/13/83 with 61,968 miles. Thru about 85' thru 89' it was only driven less then 2,100 miles. In 1989, it was stored for 22 years. As of 2/23/11 -mileage shows 64,100. A true Collector will appreciate this Mustang. This will be about the last time for a while you'll see a 66' GT Convertible in this condtion at No Reserve. It grabs attention for being unrestored. My thought is to leave it in it's survivor condtion cause It's only original Once - _____________________________________________ Term & Conditions ___________________________________________ I have set my auction at a very Rare 5 Days with No Reserve setting.
