Vehicle Detail

PLEASE READ THE ENTIRE LISTING BEFORE BIDDING I am listing my 1997 Jaguar XK8 convertible for sale. Bidding starts at $2,500 with NO RESERVE. That is significantly less than what non-convertible XK8's with serious mechanical and/or body damage sell for. I purchased this over five years ago as an extra 'fun' car that looked great and would be reliable but wasn't so nice or expensive that I had to worry about anything ever happening to it. It served its purpose, but has not really been driven much in the past few years so I have decided to sell it. The vehicle is definitely fun to drive and gets all the looks in its bright white color. I had no problem taking it on several hundred mile long trips. Over the years, I have repaired/replaced several mechanical things as the need arose. This included a new convertible top about a year or two ago, which is still in great condition. ALONE THIS COST ALMOST 2,000 !!!!!! The car has power everything and comes with a regular key, a smaller key and a working keyless remote. It also has a factory cd changer in the trunk. I have the factory books/owner's manuals. The mileage on the car is true and 100% accurate. When I purchased it in 2006, the carfax showed a possible mileage issue where the mileage went from 67,855 to 6,785, clearly a typographical error. The records on the vehicle reflect the mileage continued to increase from the 67,855 all the way through its current mileage. The exterior is in really nice condition for its age. It's never been wrecked. The interior is mostly in good condition, but there is some wear. The tires are in great shape, close to new tread-wise. The car had chrome factory wheels on it, but one of them was leaking air so I had a set of non-chrome wheels put on. The buyer can have the chrome ones if desired. They are in fair condition at best. Ths vehicle also has extras like the boot cover and chome exterior mirrors. This car is not perfect or even close to perfect. However, it is still a nice looking, good car that has tons of life left! I will list what I think are some deficiencies below: The windshield has a crack on the top part near where the mirror attaches. This came from my overly agressive attempt to reinstall the rear view mirror. To avoid interference with the convertible top, the windows go down an inch when you open the door and then go back up when you close the door. On my car, sometimes the driver's window does not go back up that extra inch after coming down. It is probably a sensor or something but I never had time to mess with it and it isn't a big deal as putting the key in the doorlock and turning it raises the windows. As a side note, turning the key one way lowers all windows and the convertible top. The other way it closes the top and all windows....it's pretty cool. There is wear to the front seats, mostly the driver's side, and the console cover. Note that the seats come with the sheepskin covers. The interior headliner, which is the piece of fabric underneath the convertible top, has some discoloration. It didn't bother me enough to spend the extra $200 to replace it when I had the convertible top done. At least one of the stereo speakers doesn't sound that great when the volume is turned up. Sometimes the check engine light comes on and the code shows that the fuel mixture is too lean/too rich. My mechanic has told me it isn't a big deal and I never had it addressed over the years. The parking brake release lever doesnt work as it should. It can still be engaged/disengaged, but I believe a spring or screw needs replacing. The vehicle is being sold AS IS. Again, it is a decent vehicle, but be aware that you will have to do some work to it. If you are expecting a garage kept trophy winning vehicle with no problems, please do not bid. That being said, however, I believe it to be mechanically sound to the extent you could drive it across the across the country as it is. if you are handy or mechanical this is probably a great deal of a car for you. Also, it is a nice enough vehicle that a local dealership has it for me on consignment. They are just taking too long to sell it, hence this auction. If the buyer wants this shipped, the buyer will be paying for full cost to do so. I will do my best to work with the buyer to arrange for the shipping. The buyer also needs to pay me in cash or what I deem to be the equivalent of cash. If you have any question about payment, please ask me before or concurrent with placing a bid. The buyer also needs to be able to pay me within 5 days of the end of the auction. It is okay if you cannot get the car until after 5 days, but you have to pay within that timeframe. The winning bidder also MUST contact me within 48 hours after the auction ends to discuss payment and transport and pay a $500 deposit via paypal. if your situation is such that you cannot comply with all of these requirements, contact me BEFORE the auction ends and I might make some exception. Thanks! ****************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************** Keep in mind that I have been on eBay for almost 11 years and have bought and sold many high dollar items, including a Lamborghini, a Ferrari, a Porsche, two Jaguars, a Volvo, a '56 Mercury and a Conversion Van. I am NOT a dealer, I just love cars and sometimes use eBay to buy or sell. My feedback is and always has been 100% PERFECT !!!!!! ******************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************
