1960 Mercedes 190 SL Same owner since 1969 Last change of title over 42 years ago This car was brought to my facility in the mid 1990's to be freshened up and repainted but the customer started going thru hard times and never finished it. The outer body, engine compartment and underside of hood was bead blasted and then primed in black epoxy primer. Motor compartment was refinished in satin black so should clean up nicely. It recieved both front and rear floors, both braces that go between the rockers and trans tunnel as well as both right and left seat braces on both sides. the floors were spot welded in as close as possible to the original welds then epoxy primer and seam sealed. It still needs rust repair in the following areas; trunk floor (see photos) slight rust toward the front and a little on right side. both inner rockers behind doors in front of wheel house are rusted and need replacement. see photo. right rear lower quarter has about a 3/4 inch wide 6 inch long area of rust about two inches above the botton edge. spare tire wells, it looks like a can opener got a hold of the right one and the left has been repaired at sometime in the past (looks like they were both bottomed out then haphazardly repaired) The lower frame rails in front of the front floors each has a small spot of rust, (see photo) also one on the left rear upright section in front of the left rear tire area. When the body was blasted there was bondo on the left rear quarter panel and appears to be old body damage, to be perfect I would have replaced the lip over the wheel and the lower quarter. Doen't appear rusty just a lot of bondo. Most of the chrome is very nice with no pitting, I will try to get cleaned up and post better photos. Please note the dent on the right side of the grille suround, it is aluminum and should straighten and polish nicely. The grille "star" and two attaching side pieces are very nice original. The gas tank was cleaned and resealed. The motor ran excellent when we got it. It was pulled, bearings checked and new seals put on front and rear of engine and transmission. (I would redo them again due to sitting). It also recieved new subframe mounts and probably eng and trans mount as well. It has been sitting over ten years since the work was completed. There should be nothing missing other than possibly the radiator. It is here I just have to find it.
