Vehicle Detail
Collectible Classic: 1979 Fiat/Bertone X1/9 The Fiat X1/9 is a two-seater mid-engined sports car designed by Bertone and built by Fiat until 1982 The X1/9 is correctly pronounced in Italian as Icsunonove: 'x' (ics) 'one' (uno) 'nine' (nove). Phonetically iks-oo-no-nov-eh. English speaking countries pronounce the name as 'x-one-nine'. "the X1/9 is a remarkably safe car with excellent handling and high reserves of roadholding..." These cars have a lot of safety features. I am the third owner and this car was very well maintained by the previous owners. This car is in excellent condition almost no rust … This car has a custom paint job and the Interior is really nice. The drivers seat has been reupholstered and looks great - it is just very clean car. I purchased it in California. The car runs and drives very well everything works and it has new tires. It passed emissions recently and below is the work my awesome mechanic has done in the last 6 months to keep it running well (about $3000 worth): All Fuel Hoses, Alternator, New Clutch. New Seals & Master Cylinder, New Water Pump, Timing Belt, Gaskets, New Tension Pulley, Camshaft Seal and Pressure Plate. Shifts nice with the new clutch, but does pop out of reverse. This is an issue sometimes with Bertones. You can still reverse but you have to hold it in gear. This is a nice running car. I do not have time for it because I am in graduate school and I do not want it to sit and not be driven. These cars are becoming more rare especially one in this nice condition. Please email me with any questions. The car comes with extras: Original 1979 Owners Manual, a Clymer Repair Manual (with notes in it from the previous owner who worked on the car himself), an original tool kit. The original jack, a set of brake pads, 2 sets of keys, two fiat key chains, and a car cover. I have a low reserve. Thanks for looking. On Feb-02-11 at 15:40:22 PST, seller added the following information: Please take a look at the new pictures On Feb-02-11 at 15:57:40 PST, seller added the following information: I have had some questions about the condition of the paint so I added a picture to show the rust on the car on the two dents on the back of the car other and some close ups of the paint and the interior of the car to show the repaired drivers seat --- also an updated picture of the engine since I had all the work done. Thanks !! On Feb-02-11 at 16:00:11 PST, seller added the following information: I know it is hard to buy a car over the internet so please feel free to ask questions ... Thanks On Feb-03-11 at 20:33:27 PST, seller added the following information: I just want to be sure I have been clear so there is no misunderstanding... the the car DOES have AC and the AC DOES blow air and the previous owner told me that it worked but that it needed to be "re-charged" I have not used it ... but tried it and It DOES go on and blows air ... That and the lights not retracting and the reverse gear are all I can think of as being things that need some work still ... Other than that all the lights dials etc work on this car ... Please note This is a 1979 --- I am telling you everything I know about it ... I am selling this car "as is" and I can not make any promises. I have maintained it and taken care of it while I have had it and that is all I can tell you for sure. If you are unsure please do not bid on this car .. this is an older collectible car that needs love and care and someone who knows what they are doing. Thanks On Feb-05-11 at 08:00:11 PST, seller added the following information: I want thank all the Ebayers who know more about this car then I do who have written me ... I have learned a lot thanks ... I wanted top share one email (with the next owner) I received which said that the reverse ... "needs a new reverse gear by the way, not too bad to fix.....the originals were made out of too soft a metal and all strip off prematurely... " FYI Thanks!!! for the feedback!!!
