Vehicle Detail

I have a 1962 Galaxie 500 Sunliner convertible with a 292 V8 engine and a 3 speed manual transmission with dual exhaust. The car was purchased by me from the original owner, out of dry storage on his property, in Malvern, Pa in May of 2010. The car was covered and stored by the owner when he stopped driving the Galaxie, with it's manual tranmission, due to age and loss of physical ability. He was the original owner of the car for 48 years. All of his original paperwork that he found and gave me is included with the car. The original owner purchased the Galaxie new at Malin Ford in Berwyn, Pa. The car was properly maintained and gently used by him for 48 years. The mileage is correct and original. The Galaxie was repainted "Royal blue" and the original convertible top was replaced with a new "Saddle brown" top at the same time in 1999. The original color is "Oxford blue" and the original top was black. The original owner had the lower rear quarterpanels replaced when he had it painted. There is a poloroid of the car without the quarterpanels installed, taken at the body shop, that is included. The side trim on both sides was replaced with NOS parts when he had the car painted. The upholstery on the seats is the original two tone and are in near perfect condition without any tears, pulls or discoloration. All of the lights, signals, heater and radio work as they should. There are matching holes (2" X 5") on the front of the inner rear wheel houses. There is no other rust. The hood is blistering under the paint on a portion of the hood. The bumpers are typical original bumpers. The trim is complete and original inside and out. When I removed the vehicle from storage, the gas tank was emptied, the brakes were gone over and the car received complete fluid changes, NEW battery, and tune up before the car was started. All of the work was performed by a mechanic. The car runs excellently. The car goes, shifts and stops like it should. The car is stored in my garage year round. On Jan-29-11 at 09:57:24 PST, seller added the following information: I have received questions about rust. The only rot that I found is in front of the rear wheel houses (arches) where it meets the rear floor board behind the back seat. I located this when I removed the rear seat looking for the build sheet. I could not locate the build sheet. The floor boards are solid and I will remove the back seat for anyone to look at the floors. They are solid in the original Oxford blue color, front and back. There was a matching repair in the trunk on both sides of the rear wheel houses where it meets the floor pan. I had patch panels professionally welded in by a body shop. At their recommendation, the rear body mounts were replaced at that time. Please preview the car if you are interested in buying it. I am an owner, not a mechanic. On Feb-03-11 at 05:25:56 PST, seller added the following information: I've been asked about power steering, The Galaxie has power steering that works as it should. Please preview the car before you bid if you have condition questions. The car is a weekend cruiser for me. I am an owner, not a mechanic.
