fundfinders Store Up for auction are 2 1979 Honda XR 500's, and an extra engine and shop manual. Both motorcycles start and run. One XR (all red) runs well, was driven or started on a weekly basis and used in October for a 3 hour trail run. Could probably use an overhaul, but starts well (very easy to start these early thumpers) and runs well. Carburator could probably be cleaned as well. Fenders in fair condition, rear cracked but fully functional. Front light and rear light works. Odometer & Speedometer don't work. Has a rear enduro tire, road or trail worthy. Front knobby tire, not the best for road. This is not electric start. Gas tank seems to have been repainted at some time or another, clean inside with minimal signs of oxidation. Fresh gas in October 2010. This bike was last registered / titled in 1985 (license on back fender). Do not have title. Planned on titling, got paperwork but winter forced procrastination.The other XR (red & white) starts and runs, but does not have the header attached therefore has not been started or run often. The motor looks a little questionable from previous owner, haven't spent any time on it and more than likely needs a tune-up / overhaul. Some parts/fenders on this bike are not on the bike, but I do have them as well as a newer header. Do not have title.The extra engine turns over, is mounted on a custom made stand and is very clean. Do not have title.The manual that is included is an original Honda Shop Manual, very thorough and is in a binder, not a Clymers or Haynes manual. This manual is directly out of a Honda mechanic shop.Items are located in St. Paul, MN. Items need to be picked up within 14 days of auction close.
