Here is a true Eye catcher. It is the color EMBERGLOW inside and out on this rare 66 Fairlane XL 500 that is nearly all original and is in very very good condition. A few months ago I purchased this from a gentle man who's mother bought this in the summer of 68 used. I have the picture the day she brought it home. The gentleman was 17 years old and would drive car to high school on occasions. In the late 70's She gave the car to him The car has been garage it's whole life but has been driven The mileage is 122,000. They both had all maintence done at schedualed intervals as shown by records kept. In the early 90's he had the car repainted the factory color. The interior is 100% original except the carpet and is near phenominal condition and auto console is mint. He told me the transmission was rebuilt once but motor has never been out. After I took possesion I gave the car a tune up and installed a new fuel pump (I like the kind with canister filter) and a 428 CJ oil filter mount I had here for better oil flow. I installed a new trunk seal, cowl seal and radiator seal. The car had some aluminum wheels on it that I did not like so I put some Chrome wheels with baby moons on. Then the old owner brought over the original wheels and hub caps that he found in his attic. The hub caps were polish and are in near perfect conditon. I then purchased (01/19/2011) brand new American made tires 215/75/R14 with correct white wall stripe and put on. Now car is complete. The Fairlane runs out and drives sweet. It is a Z code 390 4-V with C-6 with no power steering or power brakes. It steers and stops like new and is easy and fun to drive. I have personally drove about 500 miles in this car. I put on lift before I bought car and it is clean under with no rust and is solid. The paint and body work is decnt and very presentable but not show quality. There are 2 nicks on passenger side behind the door where the old owner touched up with wrong color paint. No dents just nicked paint. The trunk is rust free and check out The Ford QC mark on lid. The old owner painted his motor to look newer. I added brand new battery and Autolite Battery cover. The old 390 is powerfull and drive train is in great shape. Fly in drive home.
