Vehicle Detail
Beautifully reconditioned, 4 owner, 1948 Blue Chevrolet Thriftmaster 3100, Half Ton-Short Box, 5 Window Pickup I purchased this truck in 09-1999 as the 4th owner (previous Minneapolis owner held it for 35 years), and immediately hired specialists to do a frame-on restoration of this truck including body and paint work to repaint to the Chevrolet, "Bow Tie Blue" color. The cab and headliner are painted light brown and brown upholstry on doors and seats and brown visors were added. All original gauges, all working. I have the original button radio but it was taken out by a previous owner and substituted with a 1938 radio which is very cool so I left it in the vehicle and it was installed nicely, below the dash. There is no fiberglass in this vehicle, all steel and all original fenders, doors, bumpers, running boards and original stainless grill. A wood bed with stainless steel strips, was added. Then engine work, re-chromed original bumpers and hood ornament, some chrome parts were added, including turn signals, side mirrors. The hood ornament was re-chromed and came with the vehicle when I got it. Additional work done included brake work, shocks replaced, seals and gaskets replaced, electrical re-wiring, upholstry all redone, tires & rims replaced, exhaust and muffler replaced, fuel pump replaced, gas tank cleaned, fuel line repaired, filler hose replaced, fender supports repaired, plug wires replaced, ignition coil replaced, starter replaced, carburator overhauled, wheel cylinders replaced, engine gaskets and seals replaced, steering alignment done, brake cables and yolk replaced, engine leaks resealed, engine compartment detailed and painted, front windshield replaced, new battery in 2010, new tires and rims several thousand miles ago, and more. Nearly, $20,000 invested by current owner and previous owner invested $1,800 in engine re-working. I have pictures of the work as it was done and all invoices. The truck is stored inside in heated garage all year around and used only in sunny weather during the summer. It has been driven only approximately 300 miles a year, since 2000. This truck is fun to drive, easty to steer and turn, has 4 on the floor, excellent steering and suspension and gets compliments in every parking lot. It has the original 6 cylinder Stove Bolt Engine redone several thousand miles ago by previous owner at a cost of $1,800. The engine casting number is, #3835253. The VIN is, #21FPF5310. This vehicle needs nothing. Just drive, enjoy and collect the compliments. A move from MN to FL nesessitates this sale.
