Up for sale is a cool 1960 thunderbird. I purchased this car a couple of months ago but have no real use for it at this time. I have put a decent amount of time and money in it cleaning it up and replacing parts to make it a cool reliable driver. Car has factory power steering, power brakes, power seat and manual windows. This is a turnkey car meaning it is ready to be a driver. I purchased this car from the family who originally owned it. The car had been in indoor storage for the past 15 years prior to me buying it. Before it was put into storage they had the transmission rebuilt, top end engine overhaul, and new brakes all around. The car has only had about a thousand miles on it since then and I do have the receipts for the work done to the car. For not being a fully restored car it is still in very good condition and an excellent running and driving car. I am letting it go cheap especially for the condition its in. I will do my best to list everything I know about the vehicle below DRIVETRAIN- original Y code 352 engine and cruise o matic transmission. Previous owner had the complete top end rebuilt ( valve job, water pump, rebuilt 4 barrel autolite carb etc… ) engine is smooth, quiet and runs great. Transmission was redone also and shifts good. The power steering control valve has been replaced and was quite expensive. Battery is brand new. This car is in excellent running and driving condition and has no problem driving on the freeway. SUSPENSION- car has been lowered about as much can be while still being comfortable, has billet aluminum 3 in. blocks in the rear and can be put back to stock easily. Car has a brand new set of Astro Supreme wheels and 1 1/8 whitewall tires that clear the original fender skirts. I do have the original steel wheels with tires and hubcaps as well. Brakes have been redone and stop great, I replaced the lower ball joints when I lowered it, and as mentioned above the P/S control valve was replaced. BODY- previous owner repainted it once the color you see now, car was originally white. The paint job is old and not in the best shape by any means but still shines, body has a few dents but overall looks pretty good. There are a couple small spots where the paint is starting to bubble that should be addressed soon before it starts to rot out, I felt it was better to leave the car the way it is so you know what you are getting. This is minor stuff, especially if you are familiar with these old thunderbirds. It is all on the surface and nothing needs cut out. I have listed pictures of these areas, left rear wheelwell, rocker area and one spot on the corner of the trunk lid where the previous owner had a sticker on. The spots are very minor but worth mentioning. Everything else is very solid including the rear trunk filler panel, complete floors and trunk and inner front fenderwells, which is very rare for these squarebirds. The front and rear bumpers were rechromed some time ago and still look great. There is 1 ding on the rear bumper the size of a nickel that can easily be removed. The thunderbird door scripts have been rechromed and the trunk lock bird is not broken. Doors open and close like a new car. All the original glass is in perfect condition, none of the lenses are broken. Car is 100% complete INTERIOR- interior is original and still in decent condition for a driver. The headliner is good, door panels are good, and the dash looks great, previous owner installed a new correct padded dash ( not a cheap plastic cover ) and a new carpet kit. I installed a new glove box liner and a new repo rear view mirror. The leather on the seats is pretty dried out and cracked, that would be the only thing I would bother to replace at this time. There are seatbelts installed as well ELECTRICAL- most of the electrical is working on this car. All the exterior lights… headlights, tail lights, turn signals, reverse lights work. dome light comes on when the doors are opened, heater and defrosters work, speedometer, gas gauge, temp gauge, warning lights work. previous owner installed a stereo but I purchased an original radio and put it back in the dash. Overall this is a nice little old t-bird I just wanted to take the time to mention all the flaws I have noticed. The car is in very good condition for being 51 years old. This T-bird is a turnkey vehicle. I have a clean California title in my name with current registration paid until Nov. 2012. I have all the keys, original owners manual, receipts for the engine/trans work and some spare parts. Vehicle will be listed locally and auction can be ended at any time.
