Vehicle Detail

What a car!!! 1971 Triumph GT6 MkIII. Clear title to VIN#: KF466L0. What a Christmas present! Third owner, always garage kept, perked up but not restored. Whole lot of fun - not much work. Daily driver if you like. (Car will idle all day and not get hot... more on that...) Previous owners replaced carpet, replaced transmission, (a spare comes along), and had the engine professionally rebuilt with many performance upgrades - maybe 3,000 miles ago. Have since upgraded brakes front & rear, flow-regulated the fuel into 6 PRI Kehien sixpac carbs, switched to pressure retaining oil filters, (spares come along), and installed a PRI crankcase ventilation kit. She goes and she stops. (Brakes need to be bled, spongy.) Never restored or repaired. No body work or rust. (California car moved to Nevada - never seen humidity.) The Details: Selling because I don't drive it enough to justify keeping it. She wants a driver, and a turn or two in the road, not to sit in the barn most of the time, or drive our NV straight roads. Also, I have need of funds, so reality meets checkbook and there you have it. I've owned this about 3 years, driven it maybe 2,000 miles, and will miss it when it's gone. Truly a good car. Body: original paint, never wrecked, no rust, no large dents - thumb size (door-ding) dents here and there. (See pics) Gravel chips on nose. All doors, bonnet and hatch close well and feel tight. (Door window seals could stand replacing - or don't drive thru a car-wash) Bumpers good & straight, not new. Not missing anything I'm aware of. Overall she's clean & stock: Very Good at 10 feet - see the pics. (No photoshop - straight from the Nikon camera.) Glass: good except small wiper scratch on windshield - passenger side, upper right. Tires: Dunlops (of course!) with ~ 1/2 tread? Have had balanced and aligned. Lights: all working including high beam & turn signal indicators, and overhead interior. Dashboard lights are dim, as usual. (one or two may be out, I don't know.) Interior: good carpet & vinyl, dash has repaired scrape (but I don't even remember where, so it's not like it's ugly), small tear in driver's seat near recliner lever, small tear in vinyl door panel near driver window handle (patched over). New glove box shelves, wood dash. Good heater / defroster. Speedo recently quit, have replacement speedo and cable. (Mileage a calculated guess at maybe 100K for car, and about 5K for new engine.) All other gauges good. Original AM radio in place, (AM/FM/Cassette incuded in parts). Overdirve switch on shifter not stock, but nicely done and it works. (Frankly, I love it. Handy!) Engine: Professionally rebuilt and balanced in Reno. Many performance considerations including 9.96:1 compression, mild cam (good idle), lightened flywheel, borg-warner clutch, aluminum valve cover, Moroso plug wires, dual timing chain, PRI Kehien sixpac carburation, performance exhaust header and stainless exhaust. ALUMINUM ENGINE SHROUDS!! (Shrouds are usually missing, having been cardboard and gone long ago. These are aluminum, fit right, and boy they do it right! At idle, or scooting, she just will NOT get hot.) Estimated at about 140bhp, hardened valve-seats mean no pinging with prem. unleaded fuel (I add an octane booster because of our altitude. Your call on that.) Added Holly performance fuel pressure regulator and gauge, feeding 6 PRI Kehien sixpac carburators. (Flooding can be an issue. We're talking a six-pack here!) I run the velocity stacks rather than filters, because I rarely go more than 30 miles from home. But K&N filters (one is dented) are included. (They need to be cleaned.) Note: these carbs have no accelerator pumps, which means if you stomp the gas like a drag racer she's going to cough and be very unhappy. Ease on the gas (that doesn't mean crawl, it means you can't leap off a stoplight) until 3K rpm - then have fun. Power curve takes over and she's running like LeMans. :-) Truly amounts to a Stage 2 engine in current config. Transmission: 4 spd with overdrive in 3rd & 4th. (You know that 3rd High is the same as 4th low, right? Bless the British!) Is a rebuilt replacement tranny; original comes along for fun. Never had a problem unless I let my Yank show & shift too fast - in which case the 2nd gear synchros crunch, as usual. Nothing about this car was built for drag-racing, and snap-shifts will make her grind. GT driving, even at a good clip, has never been a problem - up or down the gears. For all the years, this car is amazingly tight. Speaking of which, your daddy's Olds this ain't - this year's production was still true to the LeMans heritage, so she rides like a truck - I mean racer. Speaking of which... Suspension: KYB shocks on all corners, uprated front springs - lowered one inch. She rides a bit rough, but it's not bad at all... And quite fun when you got your hurry on... ;-) Brakes: upgraded front discs to PRI drilled and +size discs. PRI calipers as well. Rear brakes all new shoes and wheel cylinders - drums were fine. Extras: comes with all the spare parts I and previous owners have kept. Is one big household-moving box, plus a tranny, quarts of oil, oil filters, brake fluid, radio - and whatever else. (Gad. Inventory later, if requested. Bring a truck.) Also located a very nice vintage "tool kit" for tire change that sits nicely under the hatch in the back. (see pics) BTW: spare is Ok, tools good, no rust - solid jack-points. (Never had a flat - just saying I've looked.) Also includes several manuals, bound and e-copy, including a DVD with every shop manual you could hope for in pdf.
