Vehicle Detail
Up for auction is a used 1979 red MGB rubber bumper convertible. Serial number GHN5UL482736G. Made in October of 1979 and registered in the state of Connecticut. I have the registration and a bill of sale from the previous owner. This car odometer shows 35,367 miles, but it has more than that given the year of the car - probably not 135,367 but more likely about 80,000 given the condition. This car has been off the road since 2002 and has been stored either indoors or outdoors in a temorary shed since then. It will therefore probalby need the brakes and rear end oil seals replaced as they tend to deteriorate from age when sitting. I was planning to restore it but do not have the time for it. The top was new in 2002 and the paint was also new in 2001. Both are still in good condition. this was a daily driver in 2002. This car has no engine or transmission but I am providing a core rebuildable engine and a good used 4 speed transmission with the car. I have the radiator but no alternator, starter or carbs or exhaust system. The tan interior is in good condition and even the dash is not cracked. It will need rugs, but the seats are good. It was running when I took it off the road in 2002. I removed the engine and transmission to work on it and this is as far as I got. The body has a dent in the right rear quarter panel and one on the left front fender and front of left door - I have tried to show them in the photos. It has the usual cracked door panel by the drivers mirror - passenger side is OK. It will need a new set of tires. Body has some bondo, but not much. I have tried to show the trunk, floors and underbody and some rust starting on the left rear fender wheel well. The door panels and the rear deck panel have been cut out for speakers. This is not a parts car, but a good restoration project car. I am putting it out at a low start price with no reserve so hopefully someone will get a good deal. I would like someone to buy this for restoration and not for parts. Too many cars are being parted out today and not restored. If anyone wants more photos or needs any more information, please ask and I will provide whatever you need. This car will have to be picked up on a flatbed or trailer. Buyer will have to arrange transport. The car is being sold as is with no warranty. If you are local you can arrange for an inspection by appointment. I am trying to represent this car as accurately as I can without you actually being here to see it. Thanks for looking and good luck bidding!
