Vehicle Detail
Very clean, low mileage, AWD station wagon, being offered by original owner. Fresco Green (metallic) exterior and Beige Leather interior. 66,250 miles. Covered for an additional 34 months (to October 2013) or 33,750 miles, by a WarranTech Extended Warranty, Ultimate Coverage (Plan Code UK2), transferable to new owner, which covers all major mechanical and electrical components and almost everything else except normal wear and tear items (after $100 deductible per service visit). Plus the car is still covered by VW's transferable 8 year or 80,000 mile warranty on the Catalytic Converter, Engine Electronic Control Module and On-Board Diagnostic Device, and 12 year unlimited mileage transferable warranty against corrosion perforation (rust-through). MSRP when purchased in October 2003 was $33,631. Loaded, and everything works. 190 hp V-6 engine with 5 speed Tiptronic automatic transmission. (Fully automatic or you can manually up- and down-shift.) 16" alloy wheels with Continental ContiProContact tires. Full size spare tire (Michelin). Anti-lock brakes. Electronic stabilization (non-skid) program (ESP). Leather seats - both front seats are 8-way power adjustable and heatable. Anti-theft alarm system. Daylight running lights. Premium sound system with multiple band AF/FM radio with CD player (and cassette tape player, for those that still own cassette tapes). Electronic climate control. Cruise control. Power windows. Power outside mirrors. Automatic wiper control with rain sensor (both windshield and tailgate window). Front and side air bags for front seats. Side curtain air bags for front and rear seats. On-Star capable, but never activated. Government estimates of 19 mpg in city and 26 mpg at highway speed for this car are right on, in my experience. All original tools and manuals are in the car, and the original window sticker from the dealer and the Certificate of Origin are included. And, of course, the Satisfaction of Lien document from VW Credit, through which I financed the car, is included. (Be sure you get this from any seller who financed his/her purchase.) The car has been serviced only by Riverhead Bay Motors, the VW dealer from whom I purchased it, except for oil and filter changes which have been done at local Mobil station every 7500 miles. Only Mobil 1 (5W-30) used since new. Typically uses a quart of oil between changes. All service records are available. New battery installed by dealer this summer, and the recommended timing belt change has also been performed (early) by the dealer. (A word of advice if you are considering any car with more than 60,000 miles on it: Check the manufacturer's recommended mileage for the timing belt change, as it is usually necessary and often an expensive job - but not as expensive as if the belt breaks.) CarFax report is available, which confirms the history I've just stated, and gives the car a clean bill-of-health, except that it shows one accident. AutoCheck, provided by eBay, gives the same information, but shows two accidents. The fact is that the car was hit twice, at low speed, while parked – once in the driver's door and once in the rear quarter panel on the driver's side. Both accidents were reported to the police. Invoices for the repair work, done at a local first-class body shop, are also available. The involved body panels are like new. The car has never been in an accident while in motion. There are some other minor blemishes due to incidents by anonymous drivers who apparently have difficulty parallel parking. Left front bumper has some minor scratches and left rear bumper has a small ding. Normal road rash is very slight. I've included a number of photos, including those deliberately taken at angles that would reveal any other dings or body work imperfections. There are none. Leather is like new except for driver's seat which has a few wrinkles due to use. Treated periodically with leather cleaner/preservative. Absolutely no cracks, tears or split seams. Also included with the car are a full set of 4 carpet mats (seldom used) and a set of 4 rubber "sand, snow and mud" mats (often used) – both by VW – as well as a fitted rubber cargo area mat by WeatherTech-MacNeil. No tobacco products have ever been used in this car. The cigarette lighter has been in the glove compartment since day one. I will make the car available for inspection by a third party, in East Hampton, NY. Click on "Order an independent inspection" above. I also urge you to check out the average retail price for this car, with this equipment, in this condition, and with this mileage at any of the on-line used car price guides, but I think the most reliable is that published by the National Automobile Dealers Association (the "Blue Book") which is at www.nadaguides.com. I set the "Buy It Now" price at $1955 less than the NADA Clean Retail price (for this mileage and in this area code) - $11,950 - which is what a dealer would likely charge for this car WITHOUT a 3 year - 30,000 mile warranty. Why am I selling my car? If you look carefully at one of the pictures you will see my new Audi wagon in the background. I had an opportunity to move up that I couldn't pass by. And at the finance rate that Audi offered me (0.9%), it made no sense to me to trade in the VW. (Among other things, the remaining warranty would be voided by a sale to a dealer.) What would I do to the VW if I hadn't bought the Audi? An oil and filter change in 1250 miles, for sure. Buy two new ContiProContact tires sometime in the next six months, which I'd put up front and rotate the front tires to the back. And just keep on driving it. (Incidentally, winter is coming and this AWD vehicle is great in the snow. The first time I drove it on a snow-packed road, with no one around, I took my hands off the steering wheel and jammed on the brakes at about 30 mph. It stopped in a straight line. I cannot say enough good things about the combination of AWD and ESP that this car has if you do any driving in snow country.) I doubt you will find anywhere a cleaner 2004 VW Passat GLX 4-Motion Wagon with fewer miles and covered by an extended warranty. The transfer fee for the warranty is $50, for which the new owner will be responsible. This is almost like buying a Certified Pre-Owned car from a new car dealer, but without the dealer’s markup. I am also advertising the car locally, and reserve the right to cancel this listing due to prior sale. Regarding delivery: click on the Shipping tab above for transport options and travel options to pick up the car personally. If you are flying in, I will deliver the car to Islip MacArthur Airport (ISP) in Ronkonkoma, NY. If coming from New England, I will deliver it to the Ferry Dock in Port Jefferson, NY (ferry from Bridgeport CT) or in Orient Point, NY (ferry from Groton, CT). If coming out from Manhattan, I'll deliver it to the Hampton Jitney bus stop or at the LIRR station in Southampton or East Hampton, NY.
