Up for sale here is a very nice, repairable 1.8 liter Turbo Beetle. This has been my mother's car since 2005. She is the second owner. This car was always garaged and not driven in bad weather. Unfortunately, she recently went off the road and wrecked the car. The wreck was minor with no injuries. The car basically spun around on the road and ended up along the roadside in a small ditch. The damage that is there is from the small tree-like brush along the road. It was not rolled and never left the ground. I cannot believe it but the insurance company totaled the car, and because of this, the car now has a salvage title. It has not been repaired. We bought it back from the insurance company with thoughts of repairing it ourselves but she found a new car before we got started and now we are just going to sell this one. Here is what I know: The Good: The car runs with no issues. No warning lights are lit and everything works as it should, other than the lights that were busted in the accident. We drove it home from the accident site. (It has been driven approximately 60 miles since the accident.) No airbags were deployed and all the glass is fine. The interior is in great shape. This car has the highly desirable and rare 20 valve 1.8 L turbo motor and automatic with only 62,312 miles and runs great! All of the body lines line up fine and the car goes down the road straight. The Bad: The car has a salvage title. It needs body/cosmetic, and possibly mechanical work to be back to the way it was. A front fender is broken, the front bumper/spoiler is broken as are the front fog lights. A rear fender has scuff on it but I think it would rub out. The rear bumper cover has a small wrinkle on the bottom center of it. The radiator core support (plastic) is broken although the radiator and air conditioning are fine and not broken. The front driver's side wheel seems to be out of alignment and doesn't hold air as it has dirt and sticks between the tire and wheel. I will have this fixed before the auction's end. It needs a rear tail light and front head light. I am not a body man but it looks as though the front bumper/spoiler, fender, and possibly the rear bumper, is all that would need to be painted but you need to look at it to be sure. More than likely, the front bumper/lower grill needs replaced as well as the fog lights. I have the lower grill but it is busted. Also, the radiator core support needs replaced unless someone could repair the break. This has been a great car and it is really sad that the insurance company totaled it. We (as well as the body shop that was to do the repairs ) cannot understand it. The book value of this car before the accident was over ten thousand dollars. I don't think that there was any available options that are not on this car as I think it has them all, including 1.8 turbo engine, automatic transmission, heated seats, multi disc CD/cassette player, sunroof, rear spoiler, leather two-tone interior, great looking wheels, tinted windows, etc. Also, it is very low miles! As a bonus, the alternator was just replaced prior to the accident! I encourage and welcome any and all interested people to come and look at this car in person. It is sitting inside and you are welcome to give it a very close look as I am sure there may be issues that I do not know about. Keep in mind that this car has a salvage title and is in need of repairs. A $500 nonrefundable deposit is due within 48 hours of the auction end unless prior arrangements are made BEFORE the auction is over. The remainder is due within one week of the end of the auction. I can help in the delivery of the car for a small fee as I have a trailer and truck. Please ask any and all questions and I will do my best to answer them.
