Vehicle Detail
You are bidding on an early 1967 – September 23, 1966 – VW Type 2 Panel Van – a good restoration candidate that comes with plenty of original equipment that will add to its value post-restoration. Originally a pearl white panel van, it was used as a commercial delivery van in Meridian, Mississippi. We believe it served the Coca Cola bottling plant in Meridian due to the ancient overspray of red and white and the faint logo presence on the driver’s side long panel above the beltline. I am thinning out my stash of base vehicles – choosing one that I have decided that I will never take the time to restore. I am bringing this panel van, which I purchased several years ago and sequestered in my Dad’s warehouse in Mississippi, to market in this no reserve auction. It is a non-runner, and it will need cab floors and a replacement passenger side rear corner, but it is otherwise very straight and solid and shows no sign of collision damage or repair. Major Advantages: Very straight and solid with the exception of cab floors and passenger’s side rear corner. Plenty of useable original equipment that will add to post-restoration value. Cargo compartment interior is solid and in good shape. Original 1500cc engine – serial no. H 5075722 – rebuildable. Other special items: Original Sigla front windshield glass. Original Sekurit Cab door glass (driver’s side slider is missisng) Original Cab divider. Original Sekurit Cab divider glass. Original Hella front turn signal lenses. Original Hella headlight lenses – no pitting. Original Hella rear turn signal lenses. Original vent wing locks. Original cab door and cargo compartment door handles. Original body parts - doors, apron, etc. Original dash knobs. Original one-year-only 67 radio delete plate. Original cab seats (passenger side has tattered original covering. Original dome lights with Bakelite lenses. Original ignition key. Original front bumper, with fragment one guard and overrider from rear bumper. Original seats – front, middle and rear. Original VW script on rear hatch. Original hubcaps (2) with hand-painted logos. Original chrome bumpers with rubber trim inserts. Original sun visors. Original rear view mirror. Original gas gauge and speedometer. The 1967 model year was manufactured with many one-year-only items – dash knobs, cargo door and engine door looks, for example, and those still exist in this van. 1967 was the first year of the 12 volt electrical system. The gas gauge is a one year only 12 volt unit. The front tires are fine. The rear tires should be replaced with the two complimentary replacement tires that I’ve included in the cargo compartment.
