Vehicle Detail

1979 Dodge Street Van - Classic Mopar I have owned this van for about 5 years, I purchased it from the original owner, the mileage is original at 113,195. 1979 was the last year for the "Street Van" package. The van was garage kept its entire life and still retains the original paint. The van has no rust, the paint is still in very good condition and has been waxed regularly. There is one very small crack in the plastic trim of the headlight bezel. The van has the full width single wide swing door in the rear. It has 2 sunroofs, one in the front and one in the rear. I have the original Street Van box which came with the van as new and contains some type of templates for customizing. I had taken the original chrome slotted wheels off and replaced them with Weld Pro Stars. The slotted wheels were 15 x7 front and rear had some minor pitting and eventually needed tires so I decided the Weld Wheels looked much better, they are 8" in the rear and 7" in the front with BFG Radial T/As (255/70/15) that are in excellent condition. The engine is a 318 with 2 bbl carb and automatic transmission and runs and shifts great. The radiator was replaced 1 year ago. The custom true dual exhaust is also 1 year old. The only issue with the engine is a puff of smoke on start up after sitting likely due to aged valve seals (not such a difficult repair for a basic automotive guy), other than that it doesnt use any large amount of oil during driving, there are no ticks, knocks or major leaks. The interior was mildly customized when in the early 80s' with shag carpet and paneled roof. The interior is clean but the rear carpet is faded due to age. The front carpet was recently replaced. The seats are the original high back buckets, the drivers seat has a small tear on the seat bottom. I had a new Pioneer am/fm CD player and 4 speakers installed 1 year ago. The suspension is in very good shape, the previous owner had indicated that he had replaced steering linkage components just prior to me purchasing it. The shocks are all new. The only issue I have found is the steering coupler has a little slop which is slightly noticeable in the steering wheel as a little play. These steering couplers of the 70s and 80s were typical for wear out and are cheap and easy to replace. The issue was so minor for me that I had never made it a priority to change it but I want to be sure indicate any and all issues that I know of. The brakes are excellent and work great, no pulling and vibration when stopping. The van is basically all original and in overall excellent condition considering its age. It is every bit as nice as the pictures show. The van is extremely rare for a Street Van, ecspecially a 1979 having the 4 square headlights. I have lost my storage for the van and do not want to see it sit outside for the upcoming winter season.
