Vehicle Detail
Here’s a cool looking little custom bug that I’m listing for my buddy. He had it on ebay earlier in the week with some bad pics, so we’ll try and get it right this time. This is a 68 with some earlier 50's/60’s bits to back date it a little, and a nice custom paint job. It has a 1600 motor with 4 speed, and starts, runs and drives well. My buddy bought it 6 months ago just for fun. It was basically a work in progress that needed paint. In 2007 it had $1600 in work done - new carb, starter, battery, fuel pump, filter, plugs, points, wires, master. It also has new tires with 15” Porsche wheels in the rear. I believe it also has a new clutch and misc. parts. The paint job was done with PPG products and features root beer scallops and fenders with tons of big 60’s style black and silver flake, over a gold-copper main body. Traditional style pinstriping by Steve Fields. Its fresh and gets a lot of compliments, just took 2 trophies at the last 2 shows it attended. (one for best paint). Its not a $10,000 show paint job, but is a great looking driver. The flake really shines in the sunlight. Mechanically the car starts easily and runs strong. Its got a 4 pipe-megaphone exhaust which will set off car alarms if you goose it enough. Its been driven all over town and should be able to be driven long distances. Interior is all new with a seat cover kit from Larry’s Off Road, new headliner, door panels, custom drilled aluminum steering wheel. Seats and headliner have a few wrinkles as can be seen in pics, just need tightened up a little. Carpet is fair. There’s no radio, I haven’t tried the heater, lights, etc all work. Rustwise, the car is very solid and has only two spots of rust through I could find, shown in pics. There’s a rust through spot in the rear of the passenger floor pan and one under the driver’s heel that was patched. Subframe and suspension points look good, and I’m not aware of any patch panels or major repairs. There are two spots of paint loss – one chip/dent under the front chin, and a scrape near the rear valance under the hood. Hood catch needs adjusted – takes a good slam to close it. Doors and trunk lid close nicely. This bug is located in Dayton and you can call me with questions at 513-314-7620, and I can put you in touch with the owner or anything I don’t know about it. Thanks for looking! On Nov-09-10 at 12:13:00 PST, seller added the following information: This car will sell! Reserve lowered to $2000...next bid should get it!
