Vehicle Detail
This is a 1967 Ford Fairlane 500 hardtop coupe.. It has a 289 engine, I was told it is the original motor but I don't know where to look for the VIN number on the block. The engine runs fine but is making some lifter ticking but no other noises. The car has been sitting for over a year in a garage. The engine has good oil pressure and does not smoke. It has a 6 or 7 quart oil pan.It has a Weiand intake, Holly double pump carburetor and a electronic ignition system. It has aftermarket headers and some sort of glass packs into dual exhaust. It has a 3 speed transmission, originally on the column, but has been converted to the floor. The clutch feels fine and is tight. The car shifts into gears fine. The brakes are bad due to a bad master cylinder but is a fairly cheap part to buy and probably wouldn't be too hard to fix. They feel soft when pushed and after a short time the pedal will go to the floor. The body is a very solid south carolina southern car that has been in the south since new. The only rust holes I can find is in the front floor boards roughly six inch rust holes on both sides (one of my pictures shows the rust in the floorboard.) They could be patched very easily and should not need complete floor panel. It appears to have had the front windshield leak at one time and had water sit in the carpet which caused the rust over time. The body is wavy due to old paint job and does not appear to have been a very good paint job to start with. The dark spots on the driver's door in the picture are actually shadows from the trees and not dark splotches in the paint. The paint is peeling and has lots of chips and cracking. It is fairly shiny and could be used a driver. The trunk is where the clear is peeling the worst but the rest of the car looks better. All of the window trim moldings are nice and look like they have been replaced at one time with new pieces. The side moldings are in good shape and the chrome on the bumpers is fading some but not pitted and looks ok. All of the glass is good, the interior is nice but has a tear in the driver's seat along the seam and it could possibly be restitched since it is along the seam. The headliner is good with no tears and appears to have the original carpet but I am not sure. The door panel on the drivers door has some tears, and the armrests are both loos and need attached. The dash has cracks. The carpet is faded but has nice fairlane floor mats. All of the lights are working and so do the gauges. It has a car cover but does not have a spare tire or jack. It has 14" Cooper Cobra Radial tires that are in good shape and appears to have Magnum 500 rims. One rim is missing the center cap. It also has air shocks and traction bars. This is a list of items I see on the car: Ø Weiand Intake Ø Holly Carb Double Pumper (not sure what size possible 600 or 650) Ø Headers Ø Air Shocks Ø Sun Pro Tach II Ø Pro Source Under Dash Gauges Ø Traction Bars Ø Pioneer CD Player Ø Pioneer Speakers It has a new shifter, the other one was sloppy so I replaced it and used a Mr. Gasket 3 speed manual but noticed after I installed it that the shift pattern is not correct. It seems as if the shift rods need to be switched from the current position. I am sure if the rods are fliped over it will work correctly. I am defiantly not a mechanic by any means. This car is being sold as a "Project Car" and with a little effort could be a nice little driver. I have never drove the car on the highway only around the neighborhood one time.I dont trust the brakes enough to go too very far. I took the car as a partial trade on another car that I sold and don't have time to work on it. I am listing the car as I see it and am trying to be as honest as I can but I do not put any kind of guarantees on the car and please look closely at all pictures and make your own judgment. This car is being sold as is, it has been described to the best of my ability, and has no warranties implied or otherwise. I am not a auto dealer this is just a personal car. Buyer is required to place a $500 non refundable deposit within 24 hours of auction end. Balance of payment required 5 business days of auction end. I would prefer a bank cashier's check but can also use PayPal if necessary. Buyer is responsible for all shipping arrangements and shipping costs.
