Hello,in this auction i am selling my 1980 Mercedes Benz 4speed manual shift 240D.This car has 280,000 miles and was originally from california.There is no rust on this car anywhere,the paint is excellant with some very minor flaws(have to look real close),the interior is in very good shape with minor cracks in the dash pad(very presentable),the tires have less than 3000 miles on them,all the gauges work including the clock that keeps good time,the ac works but needs charging,the brakes are good,the cruise control works and i have also installed a brand new cd player.Now let me give you a little history on my purchase of this car last year;i won it on ebay from a guy in Oregon and i had it shipped to New Jersey.I picked it up and drove it home to New York.The motor ran good but was a smoker(USED A LOT OF OIL).The seller did not want to make good on this and ebay buyer protection would not help(i had a previous claim less than a months time before this) they make you wait 3 months before you can make another claim.Anyway i decided to have a rebuilt motor installed .I made a deal with a guy in North Carolina who had an engine with 99,000 miles on it.I drove the car down to him and had him also install a new clutch,pressure plate,the throwout bearing ,4 new cooper tires with an alignment and also repair the transmission which grinded when you went into reverse.I then fly out to NC.,picked the car up and drove it home to NY.The trip was 875 miles and what a difference.I was getting over 30 miles to the gallon,the car didn"t use any oil,and no smoking on heavy acceleration.Bottom line,i have been using this car as a daily driver and even though i love the economy of this car,I DO NOT HAVE A GARAGE,and i do not want to hurt this car by leaving it in a driveway,this is my reason for selling.Bid with confidence this is a great car and this car will drive anywhere.I have also just replaced the rear shocks in this car.I have about $7000. invested and there is very little left to do to make this car perfect.
