I purchased this car as a one owner out of North Dakota about 2 years ago. Due to this being a one owner car, and what you might say is a "barn" find, I took this on as a project car. I have pictures of the car before I started restoring it. It is not totally completed as of yet. There are still some items that need attention, such as; the over-drive, there is a rattle underneath which is probably the exhaust system, and there seems to be some hesitation in the acceleration over 55 miles an hour. Both of the rear shocks should be replaced. I have replaced the tires, had the gas tank powder coated and overhauled (lifetime warranty on the tank), cut out the small amount of rust that it had on the quarter panels, and that was replaced with metal. Several new engine parts, including radiator and fuel pump have been replaced. The carburetor has been rebuilt. The braking wheel cylinders were replaced along with the front wheel bearings. Several pieces of stainless steel molding were replaced and the rear bumper has been completely re-chromed. All the body work and paint job was performed by a local body shop. The interior is all original and has very little wear for a 58 year old car. The head liner is still in great shape. The car is about 99 % original. The radio even works! It is still a 6 volt system and everything electrical is in working order. This was the last year that the flat head V8 was manufactured for Ford/Mercury vehicles. Just by looking at the pictures of the car you can see that I got off to a good start. Due to unforeseen circumstances I am unable to complete this project. This car is not completed yet. It needs someone who has a passion for these older cars, the knowledge of the 50's and the willingness to finish this project which is practically done.
