1998 GOLD WING 1500 SE WITHMATCHING 'ESCAPADE' TRAILER BY CALIFORNIA SIDE CAR. 25,070 Miles F.O.B. No. CA Well– Here it is-- I’m selling the last bike I’ll ever own. It’s time to hang up my gear! My 1st set of wheels was a “Doodle Bug” in 1954, then an Indian “Popper”. After that, it was an A.J.S. 500 Twin. Then some B M W’s, a Yamaha 1100 Virago and the big Yamaha Venture Touring bike, and in all those years, I’ve never laid one down. Two years ago, I searched for the nicest two-tone white and grey ‘98 GOLDWING SE I could find and found this one with only 17,000 miles on it. The original owner had put some $10,000 of extras into it, including the loaded “Escapade” trailer manufactured by CALIFORNIA SIDE CAR, which he ordered in matching colors. This trailer pulls so easily, I have to remind myself that it’s there. (I’m still surprised at how much of “whatever” it will carry!) I’ve put 8,000 miles on the bike and enjoyed every mile but due to my age, it’s now time to pass the jewel onto someone else…. It has never been down. It had its last major service (including timing belts) at about 20,000 miles. The original owner put on new tires not many miles before he decided to sell it. Mechanically, I only know of two things not working right; 1. Recently the emergency flasher switch wants to stick in the “on” position. 2. The speakers need replacing. I have the new ones but never got around to having them installed. Paint, chrome and wood trim condition is subjective. This is not a 100 point show bike but depending on how it’s judged, it would likely get a very high score. The only really poor condition of chrome is the radiator grill but it’s down low and pretty much out of sight behind the front tire. My servicing has been done by WINGNUT, in Fairfield, California. They are a GOLDWING specialty shop, which I heartily recommend. I think I have all (or most) of the service receipts since it was new. It has always been garaged. It has 2 covers ( one full and one sunshine.). It has full wrap around light kits as well as the snappy “Ring of Fire” on the front wheel.. It has 2 windshields (regular and extra large), Rocker shifter, back rest, arm rests, soft foam handle grips, drink holders with mugs, removable soft luggage SLT for hotel stays, dividers in the saddlebags and trunk, spoiler and luggage rack on the trunk, and four super loud air horns. If they are not air horns, they certainly sound like it. There are custom nose covers, tinted air deflector for summer or winter adjustment, custom pin striping on both the bike and the trailer. The list goes on and on! The detail on the trailer is as follows: It is also in excellent condition and has never been wrecked. The Gold Wing pulls it so effortlessly Ican almost forget its there, and it surprises me how much it can carry! Its fully carpeted, has adjustable air suspension, a spare tier and removable zippered garment bag that snaps to the underside of the lid. There is a full luggage rack on the top and a covered ice chest on the tongue. The two tone custom paint and the pin stripping match my 1998 1500 SE GOLD WING. Chrome wheels with a full spare as seen in the photos. The cover is included. There’s not much negative to tell you about this trailer. The only thing I’ve noticed it that the chrome on the tongue is deteriorating. But everything else is just fine a far as I know.
