Vehicle Detail

The Triumph Rocket III is probably the ultimate power cruiser. The 2300cc motor produces 140 horsepower and 150 ft lbs of torque, enabling the rider to command the road. The long wheelbase, 800 lb machine is very stable at high speeds and could quite comfortably cruise at 100 mph all day long - while pulling a 21 ft. pontoon boat if you'd like! The sheer excelleration is something which must be experienced to be believed. It goes 0 to 60 in 2.8 seconds, 0 to 100 in just over 7 seconds, by which the rider soon learns this machine isn't called a "Rocket" for nothing. In spite of its size, the low center of gravity provides easy low speed maneuvering, and gas mileage will range between 36 and 42 m.p.g. depending on how much hot-rodding you do. All-in-all, this is a very reliable, easy handling and fun to ride bike which can easily put you out in front of whatever else may be on the road. This beautiful red RIII is in excellent running condition and is very reliable and comfortable to ride. Carrying my girlfriend as a passenger, I completed the Iron Butt Association's "SaddleSore 1000," which involves riding 1,000 miles in less than 24 hours. This attests to the comfort of the upgraded "Gel seat," and the value of the fitted, removeable sheepskin seat cover. Don't be fooled or put off by the 30,190 miles showing on the odometer, since this engine is built more like a car engine and like a Honda Gold Wing will undoubtedly go several hundred thousand miles before needing an overhaul. This bike has many of the most popular accessories, some of which being the Rivco rider and passenger footboards, heal-and-toe shifter, tall passenger backrest w/luggage rack, fuel gage, license plate relocation kit, Odyssey PC 625 battery, Kuryakyn rear turn signals, quartz driving lights, Kuryakyn hand grips, 25" Clearview windshield w/recurve upper lip. For reliability and convenience, the ignition switch has been relocated to the yoke in front of the gas tank (see photo with blue LED). Not shown, but included with this auction is a new ignition keyswitch in case the buyer wants to have the OEM switch in the original location. Also included but not shown is a locking front brake rotor clamp, which can be used for superior theft prevention. The muffler on this bike is original equipment on a Yamaha Roadstar Warrior, which I installed because the D&D pipes which were on it when I bought it were simply too loud for my tastes. The D&D exhaust pipes are included in this auction, but reinstalling them would require buying a new engine header pipe. All Rocket IIIs are real "head-turners" which attract a lot of attention, questions and comments - and the big muffler and "darkside" car tire on the rear make this bike even more so. The rear tire is a 225/55 - 16 Dunlop, which provides greatly extended mileage and improved wet-weather traction. The Owner's Manual and also the Shop Service Manual recorded on CD-ROMs are included. You can see a YouTube video about how the Rocket III is built at this link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fPeyhiD7KYw The bike is available for inspection during the auction period. If you are close to the Southern Indiana area and would like to inspect the bike before bidding, send me an E-mail with your phone number and we will set up a time. A $250 deposit is due within 24 hours of the end of the auction, and may be paid by PayPal. Unless otherwise agreed upon, the bike must be shipped or picked up within 7 days of the auction's end. The balance of the payment must be made before or at the time the bike is picked up or shipped. Communication is required within 24 hours, or the winning bidder risks having the bike relisted. I will accept certified bank checks, money orders, bank to bank wire transfers, and of course cash in person. PayPal is accepted only for the $250 deposit. Banks now require that any out of state certified checks, money orders, etc. require 5 business days to clear. Please keep this in mind when considering delivery time. Shipping is the sole responsibility of the buyer. If the buyer would like to ride the bike home, I will pick you up at the airport.
